Un hook all your speakers that the deck is powering and hook them up one by one sounds like u have a shorted speaker or wire and the unit is going into protection. The best way to chk the speakers and wires is with an ohm meter . Check each speaker wire to ground and across the speaker and see iof you have any shorts. The next step woulk be to remove the unit and have it bench tested.

Pioneer deh-p840mp weird concern

this is a problem that is caused by the ribbon cable that connects the two faces going bad - you can find repair kits for this unit on ebay.. just search DEH-P840MP and you will find "ribbon kits" or repair kits. They are usually about 15 dollars.

Won't switch to tuner

Sounds like the source button is not working properly. I have seen this type of problem caused by a crack in the display board. It can also be a bad contact on the source button.
Could be several other things as well, but most of the time it is something like a cracked board.
You can also try resetting the unit, look to see if there is a very small pin hole sized button on the display someplace, if so, use a paperclip or a toothpick, ect. to depress that switch. you might get lucky and the micro just needs to be reset. Sometimes you can reset a unit by disconecting the power wires for a few seconds, or just unplug the harness in the back for a short time.

Hope this helps
