Philips 42fd9954-175 My philips turns on for a few seconds then turns off and starts flashing a green light. i have checked all the wires and they are plugged correctly. The picture wont come on but it does this weird flash as if it would turn on, but then shuts off and blinks. I am not good with huge repairs but i would like to know exactly what is wrong with it. but please simple terms so i could try to fix this, im on a budget please. thanks

Hi- I have had the same problem with our TV 3 times in the past 18 months. I guess it is the power supply. We luckily bought the extended warranty through GE otherwise each repair would have cost around $1400! On the 3rd time they have determined that there is something else that is wearing the power supply down and the cost would be to much to fix so we are in the middle of getting a compensation from GE to replace our TV. I am glad to hear that we are not the only people with this problem! Hope this helps!

Hi, and unfortunately I am facing the same issue. My TV blinks GREEN LED for a few seconds then starts flashing RED led. The result I hear from this is that it is the SSB Panel and the estimated cost for service is $600.00 it sounds like you are STARTING with the problem. I began that way too. If you are under warranty, call Philips NOW!

Plud the tv in and a click sound is heard like the tv is turning on but in 10 or 15 seconds green light goes off and a red light starts to flash. It flashes 4 times per cycle.

You may have the bad capacitor issue others have had in the power supply. Google your model number and the words "replace capacitors" for the solution. There is also a Youtube video. Also, check the fuses.

Mine was doing that and I ordered a replacement power supply board for it and now it work. It's fairly easy to replace.

Philips 42PF7220A/37 42" Plasma TV

After you remove the back cover inspect the power supply board for swollen or bulging capacitors. Pull and check any capacitors that you suspect to be swollen. Next, look for a sticker in the upper right hand side of the TV set. Use the values you find on the sticker to calibrate the voltages on the power supply board.
