Question about Dell Dimension 4700 PC Desktop
I would assume that it's the cpu heatsink? Actually, it's a bad thing to put extra weight on the heatsink for it may damage the processor. The spring and locking mechanism of the heatsink is just enough to transfer the heat from the processor to the heatsink. Problem maybe on your processor not properly seated on the slot. Remove the heatsink assembly, and release or remove the processor from the slot. Check if there's a foreign object in the slot, a brush will do the cleaning. Reinstall the processor and the heatsink assembly.
