Question about Hitachi 61SWX10B 61" Rear Projection Television
Hi mabee you help me. I had purchased new STK convergence IC's
stk 932-110 . I removed the old ones and noticed on the (old ones) I see 1720 & B2120 on the upper right top of these. and on the back is some numbers 392110B1G9 (1720) & 392110B218 (B2120). Are these the same ? I ask this because after I removed the old ones and replaced the new ones, I re-installed the all the wires and the board, turned it on and I noticed a small bit of smoke comming from the board I had just installed the new STK convergence IC's STK392-110. I had immediately turned it off and removed the board but didn't see anything wrong (burned areas), But I did re-check the sodering and noticed some of the solder was touching a coulpe of the little legs comming from the new convergence IC's. I removed (cleaned up) these areas (solder) and put everything back again. I turned the T.V. back on (no smoke) this time but the T.V. shuts right off. I noticed the first time I turned the T.V. on I seen some lights (red) & 1 (green) flashing on the other board next to the one I had just installed. Can you please tell me if this is becase of the 2 different # of the old convergence IC's or if I may have done something wrong that I'm not aware of. I appreciate any and all help with this matter. Thank you in advance, Kevin

Your message says you "replaced stk392-150", did you replace both of the stk`s or just one of them??? One is for RGB vertical the other is for RGB horizontal, you should always replace both stk`s as a set, Hitachi recommends you use a "replacement kit"
part number X480306", this kit includes both stk`s with a new & supposedly improved set of stk`s as well as all resistors that are required for proper set-up, they strongly recommend you change all of the parts in their kit. The only other thing besides IC`s & resistors that could cause your problem is:
1) bad dcu output (you need a scope to check this)
2) you`ve lost either the +15 volt line or the -15 volt line to the IC`s, "Fxxx" chemical fuse open in power supply.

To my knowledge Stk392-180's are not a good sub for -110's...
Hitachi STK392-110 subbed to -150 and currently subs to
STK394-160E = HITACHI PART # CZ 01341 = an upgrade = the
best IC for your repair.....Please read some of my solutions for
more details.....Here is the basic idea...when I repair a convergence circuit,my first thought is = are my replacement parts OEM quality or better ? A cheap generic second will just BURN RESISTORS so why would I use them? New,proper IC's
should never burn resistors ! The wattage of resistors is a minor
issue concerning damage from failure of original IC's...the right
choice of IC replacement is of MAJOR importance ! .........T.
