Try powering down by the power button if the firmware completed, then powering back up. If this don't work then try hard reset by unpluging the player then while holding the power button in plug back in and continue to hold poer button until it powers up.

Go into the player's setup menu. Try disabling BD-Live, which is a "feature" that makes your player connect to a server on the internet every time you load the disk. If there is a problem connecting to the server some disks cause players to wait forever for the connection, which looks to the user like something is broken.
You can probably find the BD-Live settings in the Setup menu under Network. I have an LG player, so I'm not familiar with the Sharp setup menu.
