Question about Averatec 3200 Notebook

1 Answer

Averatec 2300 laptop will not power on.

I have an Averatec 2300 laptop that will not power on. It started a few weeks ago. First while browsing the net, I got a gray screen. The laptop would not come back. I turned it off and restarted it, but it would not rerstart. All I got was the blue power light. When you hit the power button you can hear the disc drive click but that is all that happens. I did come on a few time after that. Sometime it would run for hours and other times I would get the gray sreen after a few minutes. The computer is only 18 months old and has never been dropped or hurt in anyway. Do you have a idea of what might be wrong? I have taken the laptop completely down and put back together to make sure it did not have a loose connection.

I have the same problem, blue light only no noise from inside sometimes a blank white screen comes on. Hardly used year and a half old.

same problem for mine. I bought this refurbished 2370 about one and half years ago. the problem start from last week. After i turn it off and leave it for a while it can not easily power up again. The power/ac led is always on, but after the dvd-rom is checked and drive led flash one time, nothing happen any more. It is quite like in sleep mode, but the power led is not flash but always on. The screen never lights up, and it seems to me it never read the hard disk at all. All I can do is connect the laptop with ac adapter for a while (sometimes 10 minute, sometimes half hour or more) and then try again. Once it power up, everything is fine, it keep working for hours with no problems. even some times i turn it off, but if i restart within minutes it still can power up. I don't know if it is a problem with hardware or software settings? by the way, my battery is dead for a month, so i take it out and always use the ac adapter now.

We need to determine if the problem is your graphics chip or if the laptop really isn't booting. Do you get any kind of hard-drive activity light when you boot it up?

It's probably a stick of RAM going bad. Do you know how to remove them?

I have a averatec 7100 and in 3 weeks I tried to on the power and it would not on. no power the adeptor is on I checked to see if there is a power on the adeptor but the laptop is not charging the battery...

Hello,

Try removing the battery and then plug in the power adapter and try to power it on. If no good, get someone to test the power adapter with a voltage meter. The adapter may be dead. If the power adapter is okay, you may need to buy a new laptop.

Please let me know what happens, and I may be able to help more.

Regards,

Joe

My averatec 2300 is melting the AC power cord

Okay, the driver for the system fans (hal.dll) needs to be reinstalled.

Do the following:

Press the windows key and R
Type in command
In the command prompt that comes up:
Type in cd C:\Windows\System32\
Type in taskkill /f /im "hal.dll"
Type in del hal.dll
Then restart your computer

What taskkill does is kill the system fans application that is using the driver so you can delete it. After your system restarts, Windows will automatically reinstall the system fans driver, and the problem will be fixed!

Computer does not turn on when I press the power button

do u have the power adapter plugged in, or are you using battery power? the first thing i would try is disconnecting the battery. just compleatly remove it and set it aside. then try starting it with the adapter plugged in. sometimes the batteries go bad and are corrupt. i had this happen to a compaq laptop a few years back. after i got rid of the battery it worked fine. if it works u can always buy a new battery.

Averatec 2300

My 2300 started same problems in Dec 08 (almost 2 years old) Its an overheat problem! With black screen the two blue lights an bottom left are on. Leave powered up and in an hour or so will shut down on its on, then will start back up normally but shut down again in about an hour.Correction 1. pull off back cover, blow out the dust. 2.Go to set up (F2 on power up and run fan cal) 3. Take the back cover off you will feel how hot the CPU and hard drive are that is because vents are too small for an aging laptop. Now take the cover and drill a double line of holes on each side of the hard drive vents, Next over the CPU (where the fan blows in air, drill a triple line of new vent holes in the cover). A 5/32 drill will be about right. You may also wish to purchase an inexpensive Belkin laptop cooler. About $19 at Best Buy. This solved my problem as I do like this little one for travel

Start my notebook averatec 2300

hi dear

Ouch! Have you tried taking the battery out to see if it will run on AC power when the battery is not installed? Sometimes a bad battery can kill the system.

Do you have a meter that you can measure the output of the AC adapter with to see if it is correct? If not, any chance you could swap adapters with someone for a while to see if theirs works on your computer and vice versa? A local shop may also be able to test your adapter to see if it's working.

oke

regards, cropp
