Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I recently rented a 60inch mitsubishi dlp tv from local aarons store. First one had to be replaced because 1 week into having it a black spot with grey streaks appeared at the bottom right of screen. Then this morning the new tv they had brought has the same thing in the same spot in almost the same shape. I was just curious as to what it is. Seemed really wierd that both tvs and same problem.

I'm almost positive it hasnt been hit or anything. First time they asked if anything had been sprayed on it, but nothing was. Its so wierd this morning it was completely black with grey streaks coming from top now it is starting to lighten to just grey streaks. I just want to be sure its nothing we did.

I'm assuming that no one has pushed (or hit it) on the screen in that area. In that case either the DMD chip or the lens assembly has failed in the exact same spot in both of them - it's not your fault.
That is truly bizarre, never heard of that before. Try to find out why this has happened - ask the guys from the shop if they have encountered it before.

Is the tv installed in a cold, humid place? If yes then it might be condensation on the inside that is blocking the correct functioning of the DMD chip. Move it in another location.

Most likely the LCD panel is failing. These are "stuck pixels". Common with early LCD displays used on DLP TVs.

I have White and black dots on the screen of my Mitsubishi wd-73833 tv.

I developed white spots on the screen of my Mitsubishi WD-57734 in increasing numbers over days and weeks. I called a repair service who quoted me $1500 to replace the light engine. He suggested I call Mitsubishi Customer relations at 800-332-2119 option 5 which i did. To make a long story short after several conversations with them they agreed to replace the part for free if I picked up the labor (Would have been less conversations if I had the original purchase receipt). Instead of $1500 I paid $250. The tv was only 3.5 years old. Perseverance paid off.

I have white spots and black spots on right side of Mitsubishi WD-C657. I've done research online, and have heard its the dlp chip. Is that true, and if so, is it something that I can replace myself,...

This tv is it the DLP projection light engine block main board itself is the problems, not easily to go into the tv itself and replacing the IC chip itself.Must take out many mechanical parts to get u the Light engine block it self.U can replaced IC but somethime the IC chip it replaced, will not solved the problems, because the tv problems now the it is spreading and going on beyond the IC chip itself. If want to keep this tv very exspensive repair,i would reconmend hire a bound qualify tv tech replaced the whole Light projection block itself, but first call Mitsubishi for some kind of deal, they might help with the repair amount cost.

Bright white spots on mitsubishi wd-73833 I just replaced the lamp and now these bright white spots have started to appear!

This unit uses a DLP (digital light processor) chip and if this starts to fail then you will get spots appearing on the screen. The DLP chip will need to be replaced.
