Do the orange illumination and the orange / with white stripe dimmer wires need to be hot or ground?

blue\white stripped= amp remote
white\black striped= left -
gray= right +
gray\black striped= right -
green=left rear +
green\black striped=left right -
purple=leftr rear +
purple\black striped=right rear -

Clarion normally uses the following colors for each channel.
Front Right Gray and Gray/Black -
Front Left White and white/black
Rear Right Purple and purple/black
Rear Left Green and Green / black
Yellow is memory backup Stays at 12 volts all the time
Red is Switched power and comes on only with Key on.

Sounds like you have the ground for the radio hooked up to the illumination ground wire. Check for orange or orange/black wire coming from the radio harness. Did you buy the harness for the car as well? If so then just match all the colors of wires from the car harness and the radio harness. By car harness I mean the harness that plugs into the harness that the original factory radio plugged in to.
