Question about EdgeStar DWP40S Free-Standing Dishwasher

2 Answers

Hi, My EdgeStar dishwasher suddenly started leaking during the draining process ... looks like a sprinkler down one bottom side. I've removed the hoses to check for a blockage, and checked the screws on the bottom, and those all seem OK. What else can I do? Any helpful suggestion is most appreciated. Liz

    Hi Joe --
Where is the access panel? I don't see anything that looks like it should be opened.

    Thanks,
    L

That's the right thing to do, check, all hoses pimp and fittings for any blockages and check, joins and overfow containers too. To really have a good shot a DIY'ing one really needs a Service manual, sometimes there is a maintenance sheet inside the inspection panel, if one on the unit itself inside, however if not, you need to contact the maker, link provided, and ask them for a service manual. I have checked the 'net, but have been unable to find any.
If you can't track it down, get it looked at by a professional, ask for a "Quote" before allowing any work to commence. Again contact Edgestar and ask them for a referral to an authorised service center.

Hi Liz. Get a flashlight and remove the access panel. Look for a small crack, or evidence of the leak. You may have a crack, or a gasket that needs to be replaced. J.

My bosch dishwasher counts down to 1 minute on any cycle but will not drain except by manually hitting cancel. I've replaced a defective drain pump but it still does this- any ideas?

The pressure chamber or hose (pressure chamber to sump) may be blocked and the microswitch is being activated because the water is not entering the tank quick enough. Isolate from electric, remove lid and left panel (looking from the front). There is a plastic chamber bottom right of left side with two microswitches, either this is blocked or the hose that runs from it to the right and along the back of the kick panel and into the sump. Clear either or both (make sure all hoses are pushed true when repositioning).

Edgestar DWP60ES prematurely ending wash cycle, will not drain properly, beeps alot

most likely the dishwasher has a minor leak in the base under the wash sump. this could be tripping the flood switch which causes the pump to run continuously. when the leak dries up you are able to start normally until the leak trips the flood switch once again.

Check for leaky door seal or hose. see edgestar site for instructions on getting to the area under the sump. make sure dishwasher is disconnected from mains when working on it.

Hi i have an LG dishwasher ld 1415T1 it has started leaking water at the front bottom. the rubber seal looks ok and clean any ideas Bryan

It is so common that the drain leaks in many ways and is the most problematic fault in a dish washing machine. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that water has leaked then as the drain hose pump/valve and fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for possible leaks here. In some cases the drain hose would be clogged at the drain end to outlet of the house and so there will be back flushing resulting in overflow to the outside. Also the drain pump/valve can be clogged or the drain hose clamps can be loose on the grip which can all cause the leak to occurs. Removing and Cleaning the drain pump/valve, tightening of the hose is also very important. Also water can leak if there is gaps on the front door gaskets and must be checked but this will happen only during the cycle and not on the drain cycle end.

Whirlpool dishwasher first 5 years ok last year thermal fuse - again last week - 4 cycles later - at rinse leaves water in bottom but dishes are cleaqn Rob

Your drain is gummed up and it may be the hose too. First remove the trays. Then, clean out everything from the bottom of the inside dishwasher pan. Also clear the drain hole in it. BE CAREFUL THAT YOU DO NOT CUT YOUR SELF ON ANY BROKEN GLASS THAT MAY BE IN THE BOTTOM. Next, go under your sink (or where ever the hose hooks your dishwasher into your drain) remove the hose and clean around both sides of the connections (be sure to replace it exactly how it was to prevent leaks-also check for leaks during and after your first test run). Lastly, run the washer empty using only 1/4 of vinegar. Hope this helps!

GE TFX20JR side by side/water leaks out freezer during defrost

Yes, you are correct, that is a drain. Use a turkey baster with hot (not boiling) water to flush out the drain tube until water will flow out into the drain pan under the refrig. (where the air blown over it will cause it to evaporate)

You can get access to the base from behind the dishwasher ,you will find about 6 screws to remove the back panel at the bottom to see if its leaking.

Leaking water on floor during drain cycle

First the source of the leak needs to be identified. pull the machine out from under the counter and remove the left side panel exposing the blue float assembly. Turn the machine on and observe the fill cycle. if water comes out anywhere on the fill mechanism then the inlet valve needs to be replaced. once the machine has filled and begun to cycle cancel the program and drain the unit. observe closly where the leak is happening. a leak during drain usually indicated a leaking drain hose.
