Question about Yamaha RX-V661 Receiver
I had my TV and Cable set up to the RX-V661 receiver with component cables and had no problem. Now I'm trying to use HDMI cables, the reason I purchased the **** receiver, and it is not working.
I have an HDMI cord running from the TV to the receiver HDMI out jack. Then I have an optical cord running from the receiver to the cable box (ATT Homezone if it matters).
When I hook the HDMI cord from the cable box to the receiver DVD IN1, I get picture, but it is not formatted correctly, and I only get sound in my front two surrond sound speakers. When I connect the HDMI cord from the cable box to the receiver DVT/CBL IN2 I get sound in all speakers but no picture on the TV.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? The **** working for Yamaha was smug, condescending and had absolutley nothing useful to say.
Yes, the firmware on your hdtv box has an old firmware, I switched my old hdtv box with a newer one box and the problem was solved. It seems that it can't work if your hooking up with DVI to HDMI cable to your receiver to tv. Your hd box must have an HDMI out otherwise it causes problems. I also have rx-v661 and i finally hooked up everything HDMI to the receiver and then to the tv and it was having the problem you speak of. After I switched out the hd box for a newer one everthing worked fine.
