Printer Password I've bought this printer used, but when I log into the printer's HTML interface I can't perform maintenance or change network settings or upgrade firmware, as it's passworded. The passwords are not the default ones listed in the manual like I was told they were. can I reset the password or get around it?

Exact same problem, how do you reset to the default?

  • tuck_1981 Jul 10, 2008

I've found out that the default passwords in the manual and on genicom homepage are listed as 'super' and 'adm'. The password default is ACTUALLY "sysadm".

If you reset the network card on the 8008 back to factory defaults it will reset the web password back to 'sysadm'
To reset factory defaults power the pritner on holding down CLEAR, keep CLEAR held down whilst you power the printer ON, keep the clear button held down untill you see RESETT on the display.

Resetting factory defaults will reset all network settings EXCEPT - IP, Sub net and Gateway address

Most of the printers connected in network can be accessed through a web page. Is it possible to perform calibration operations on Printronix T5204R printer from an inbuilt html page in the printer?

Most calibrations have to be performed onsite by logging in as the CSE (Customer Service Engineer) or the Administrator. There are several simple calibrations that can be performed by a user but most need you to log in.

FUJI XEROX CM205fw can't set custom paper size

So I am not the only one encountering the same problem! Printing A4 & DL are great but it simply does not let me print A6 properly no matter how hard I tried to configure the paper size (at the printer settings, printer preferences, the application settings etc)
Can Fuji Xerox fix this?

How to hook up a wireless printer to a computer

Does the printer also have some "wired" interface (parallel-port, or USB-port)?

If not, then you need to purchase a router with wireless capability:

1. Connect cable-modem (or DSL-modem) to the 'WAN' (or 'IInternet') port on the router.

2. Connect one of the 'LAN' ports on the router to the network-port on your computer.

3. Configure the wireless-adapter inside the router:
* set an SSID -- the "name" of your wireless network
* encryption-level -- use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* a password for your network

4. Configure the wireless printer to connect to that SSID, using the password

5. On the computer, click "Add Networked Printer"

6. Print a "test" page: computer -> wired -> router -> wireless -> printer

Printing not possible . message " print spooler service not ready"

As most people run Windows on their computer, I will describe how the printing setup works on that operating system. The *nix and Mac operating systems differ slightly in the details but verall are set up similar.
There are two parts to the print dialog box on Windows. The first of these is part of the Windows API (Application Programming Interface). The API is a set of common code pieces that are held in the various DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files that are part of the Windows operating system. Any Windows program can (and should) call the API to perform common functions such as displaying the Print Dialog box so that it will work the same way in all programs and not have different options in different places the way the print option did back in DOS program days. The Print Dialog API also provides a common interface allowing all programs access to the same set of printer drivers rather than printer manufacturers having to create driver software for their printer for each individual program that wanted to use it.
The printer drivers are the other half of the print dialog. There are several different languages that different printers understand that they use to control how the page prints (eg. PCL5 and Postscript). The printer driver instructs the Print API as to how to translate the standard internal print format that the operating system understands into the custom markup language that the specific printer understands. It also adjusts the options that the Print dialog displays to reflect the options offered by the specific printer.
An individual computer may have no printers installed, it may have one local printer, it may have access to several printers over a network, it may even be set up to print to PDF or preformatted print file. Where more than one "printer" is defined one of them is designated the default printer which means that it is the one that displays its details in the print dialog when it first appears.
The operating system keeps track of the default printer and identifies that printer to the various programs on the computer. This allows the programs to pass an extra parameter to the print API telling it to print directly to the default printer without displaying the print dialog first. Many programs have two different print options - a menu entry that displays the print dialog and a toolbar fast print button that sends direct to the default printer.okay another one is

A print spooler is software that temporarily stores print jobs on the computer hard disk or in memory until the printer is ready to print them. If you've been waiting an unusually long time for a document to print, or if you see an error message about the print spooler, spooler subsystem, or spooler resources, you might need to change and then restart the Print Spooler service on your computer.

To do this, we recommend that you save your work, and then restart the computer to restart the Print Spooler service. If you don't want to restart the computer, try these steps instead.
To change or restart the Print Spooler service

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

  1. Open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Administrative Tools.

  2. Double-click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  3. Right-click the Print Spooler service, and then click Properties.

any usb printer cable should have the "home plate" shape connector for the printer. newer ones use an ethernet cable very common. use to hook up routers, etc called network cable

Pls. help us,how can we used land cord to connect printer konica 7035 to computer. we already down load a driver from internet . we try many times to check sa IP address and test print but still we cannt...

Using arp command (UNIX)
From UNIX you can use the arp command to assign the IP address to the network interface card.
Perform the following procedure:
1. Turn off the print controller and the main body printer.
2. Log in as superuser on a host on the same subnet as the network interface card. However, if
the server resides on another subnet, complete this procedure to store the IP address in the
network interface card.
3. Find the MAC address of the network interface card. The address is printed on the Status Page
each time you turn on the print controller and the main body printer.
4. Edit the hosts file (usually /etc/hosts) or use NIS or DIS to add IP address and node name of
the network interface card. See the network administrator for the IP address. For example, a
network interface card with a name of printfast and an IP address of 192.9.200.200 has the
entry:
192.9.200.200 printfast
5. Add an entry to the arp cache for IP address and Mac address of the network interface card,
as:
arp -s 192.9.200.200 0:40:c8:0:0:ff
RS6000 (AIX) requires the ether option after arp -s. For example:
arp -s ether 192.9.200.200 0:40:c8:0:0:ff
6. Check the print controller and the main body printer to see that the network interface card is connected
to the network. Turn on the print controller and the main body printer.
7. Send a ping command to the network interface card to verify it is running on the network, as
for example:
ping 192.9.200.200 or ping printfast
The network interface card will not respond to this ping command but it will read its IP address
from the packets.
8. Turn off the print controller and the main body printer and back on again and then send the
ping command again to verify that the network interface card obtained its IP address. A confirmation
message displays as:
192.9.200.200 is alive
9. Remove the entry from the arp cache using the following command. Specify the network
interface card either by its IP address or by its name, for example:
arp -d printfast
Konica Network Interface Card INSTRUCTION MANUAL 2-5
Chapter 2 Setting Up the Network Interface Card
Using MAP
By using MAP (Management Access Program) included the CD-ROM that comes with the network
interface card, you can automatically identify the network interface card on the network and set it up
for TCP/IP by using Web Utilities. To use this method to assign the IP address to the network interface
card, the following procedure should be performed on computers in advance:
• TCP/IP correctly configured
• IPX/SPX-compatible protocol installed
• MAP installed and MAP setup correctly executed
About how to set up TCP/IP and how to install IPX/SPX-compatible protocol, refer to Windows Help
menus for example. For MAP, refer to “Using MAP (Management Access Program)” in this chapter.
To change an IP address already assigned to a network interface card, you can not use the
arp command. Use Web Utilities instead. These methods also allow you to set up subnet
mask and default gateway, etc.
Using NIManage
Refer to “Chapter 7 AppleTalk Configuration”.
 Accessing Web Utilities
The network interface card is provided with an HTTP server having Web Utilities. By accessing this server,
you can change settings of the printing system. There are two ways to access Web Utilities, through a Web
Browser, either through Netscape Navigator, version 4.x or greater or through Internet Explorer, version 4.x
or greater.
• Use MAP to have the network interface card on the networks identified automatically, thereby accessing
Web Utilities.
• Use a Web Browser to type the IP address assigned to the network interface card, and thereby access
the Web Utilities. For example:
http://192.168.0.128/
If you designate the proxy setting in your Web Browser you cannot access the Web Utilities.
For more information see your network adminisrator.
Chapter 2 Setting Up the Network Interface Card
2-6 Konica Network Interface Card INSTRUCTION MANUAL
 Using MAP (Management Access Program)
A utility called MAP is provided on the CD-ROM that comes with the network interface card.
This program automatically identifies the network interface cards on the networks and lists them on Web
Browser screen. From this Web Browser list you can select a network interface card to change its settings
and control Web Utilities.
