Question about Samsung DLP HL-P5663W 56" TV

52" Samsung DLP

I have a 52" Samsung DLP going on 3 years old. After a year of having it, the sound and color would shut off but the T.V. would still be on. After a month of that it started working fine. A year and a half later the T.V. is now shutting off completely and three lights show up on the on/off button, timer, lamp, and stand by. The T.V. would shut off a few times a day and then be fine for a few days. It started getting worse and now it only stays on for about 30 sec.. What can I do to fix this problem.

Thank you,
Haley

My 56" DLP 1080P HLT5676S just shut down and the three lights, standby/flash, timer and lamp, are all blinking together. I unplugged the TV and plugged it back in and it seemed to work but it never would come back on and it eventually would go back to the three lights blinking.

I have the same problem. The TV will just turn off periodically and while it is on, it struggles to lock in on the picture and goes blank with the sound continuing. It gives me a "mode not supported" message. It is almost like it can't determine what resolution to go with.

I delivered mine to the shop today. He says that it sounds like the image board. A cool $500 part plus labor.

It could also be the color wheel, it's been documented for DLP TVs to have problems with both the lamp and color wheel. For those with a screwdriver and ability to read online instructions, you can replace the color wheel yourself. I took out the guts of my Samsung HLR-5067W and found that the color wheel shattered, I'm anxiously awaiting my replacement.

It is unlikely that you can do anything yourself.
It sounds to me that there is a power supply problem that has steadily gotten worse and that cannot be confirmed remotely, it must be done on site by an equipped professional.

My Samsung 52'' DLP TV has 5 white pixels spread out toward the middle of the screen. Started with 2 and now its up to five!!! Is there any way of fixing the problem? It's only ~ 3 years old!!!

You could have specks of dust or dirt in the light path in the light engine. You need to have an experienced technician have a look at that one. The light engine assembly is very complex and can be easily damaged or put out of alignment and will then require much more expensive service.

42 inch Samsung DLP TV shuts off by itself. I can turn it back on and sometimes it stays on and other times shuts off within seconds. Some days it stays on all day without a problem. Other days it shuts...

I bypassed the safety switch (it was bad) and vacuumed and blew out all of the dust. So far with this set, 3 years old, I have replaced the bulb twice,it exploded both times, and the color wheel which also exploded! We love the picture but the next time it goes out, it goes out to the trash and I will purchase a top of the line LED/LCD set. No moving parts!!! Samsung designed and manufactured a whole bunch of lemon sets and will not admit it. I have found several hundred complaints about their DLP sets and only a few on other brands.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

Color Wheel problem.. to generate colors on a dlp the light is shine through a motorized wheel. that has different color filters on it. this is a motor and anthing that moves will eventally wear out. i just replaced the color wheel on a samsung today. standard for this to go out in about that time. i believed our shop charged 250 to put a new one in.
