The 55ux600u toshiba hdtv has a setting that needs to be changed with the wii in order to get color. 1. Click 'Menu' on the TV remote2. Arrow over to 'Preferences'3. Arrow down to 'AV Connection'4. Click 'OK'5. Arrow down to 'AV Input'6. Change setting from 'ColorStream HD' to 'Video' by clicking the right arrow.7. Hit the'Exit' button on the TV remote. This will give you color for your Wii. You will have to change this setting back in order to view DVDs in color. :-)
If all your wanted is to widen the picture then just push aspect or format on your remote control and put it on either 16:9 or full. But if your referring to HD then an HD picture fills the screen by itself no matter what setting you have the tv set to. If the screen isnt full then the program your watching isnt broadcasting in HD at that time. A common misconception is that because its an HD tv or an HD channel that it always should show in HD. This isnt true. It goes by the broadcast
Ok this is a quick fix. All you ned to get a set of Wii HD cables from the store and all should be fine. Also you might not want to put your Wii on a Plasma TV its not good for the TV try using on LCD, LED, or plain old tv works best that way no image burn
I found a better way and it works fine. I have a new 32 inch Emerson, with only one composit hood up ( which won't work with the wii) 2 HDMI's ( again does not hook up to the wii, the monitor hook up for PC, red and white ( yellow plus is not there it's for a stereo they told me), and the usb hook up ( which is more for pictures I was told by the company). The answer was to hook my RCA plus to the red and white under the composite, then hook the yellow into the green plug of the composite, and behold- my will now works fine.
There are 4 settings for the TV like zoom, stretch, smart stretch, and dot by dot... I personally like dot by dot it has the clear and fitted picture that you might want... Especially with HD chanels put it on the dot by dot setting...
