Hello cyfish.

This error is due to defective/malfunctioning rotary sensor. It couls also be that the rotary system did not reach the home position due to some obstruction. See if you can find anything that may obstruct the path, like debris or a torn piece of paper.
To replace/fix the sensor would involve removing the back cover and the rotary power board. If you are not familiar with these procedures, the best in my opinion would be to call a Xerox technician or other competent professional to take a look.
This would probably be in your best interest and avoid any malfunction in the near future.

You can contact Xerox HERE.

Hope that helps!

The problem occurs because of the trickle development system in the machine, making extended lengths of black and white copies / prints does not allow the black developer housing to purge itself of excess waste Toner (Dry Ink) and Developer. There are two solutions for the problem:

  • Make 1,000 copies / prints of a black and white job, then make 150 copies / prints of full color. Continue making 1,000 copies / prints of the black and white job, then 150 full color, and so on, until the entire black and white job is complete.
  • Make extended jobs in groups of 100 by making 100 copies / prints of the black and white job, then allowing the machine to cycle down (return to 'Ready') and making the next 100 copies / prints. Continue in this pattern until the entire black and white job is complete.
If it won't even let you print, may I suggest calling 1-800-821-2797 as they will have knowledge of handling this exact problem. Please let me know what they find. Most likely you will have to replace a part in the housing.

Error 9-363 is the developer housing rotary system did not reach home position. Try to hard reset the machine leave it unplugged and turn it back on after 2hrs and then see what happens.
Update me for the same.

    1. Power OFF the machine.

    2. Wait 30 seconds.

    3. Power ON the machine.
The 'Please Wait' message appears on the display. It will take
approximately 8 minutes for the copier / printer to reach a 'Ready'
    condition.

CAUTION: The Fuser Roll remains in a cammed-up position if
power to the copier is interrupted while the copier is in use. The
Fuser Roll will not be released from its position until the power is
restored, the Power Switch is in the On position, and the Start button
is pressed again. If the Fuser Roll remains in the cammed-up position
for a prolonged period of time, copy quality defects will occur. To
prevent damage to the Fuser Roll, switch the Power On as soon as
possible after the power is restored, and make a copy of a document. If
the machine is a DC 12LP send a print job from a workstation to prevent
    damage to the Fuser Roll.

You can try this, try to clean the dev rotary sensor. open the upper right hand cover then there are two assy's to be removed also for you to access the rotary sensor located inboard side. this sensor senses the home position of rotary developer. to removed this sensor, you have to open the rear cover, then rotary pwb. some 9-363 code is due to busted fuse in the rotary pwb. Or could also be a fault with the fuses.

I have a 'paper jam error' displayed on my HP PhotoSmart 2575 printer screen which I cannot clear, even after removing the paper and pressing OK. In addition, I have reloaded software and this has been...

A few things to check would be to open your printer and make sure there are no little ripped pieces of paper in the system which could be causing it to keep faulting. Also try unplugging it while its powered on and let it sit for 8-10 minutes and see if that doesn't reset it. Hope this helps let me know if more trouble shooting is necessary.

Have lexmark 5070 printer getting error msg saying ccomputer not communicating with printer tried unplugging everything usb, printer

It seems there is a possibility of a problem with the printer itself, or perhaps the cartridges. You should first self-test the printer. Since we are unsure where the problem exists, we must do eliminative troubleshooting to rule out parts of the printing system. The self-test allows us to rule out software and the cable by testing the hardware by itself. Please note that this is not a "fix," but rather a diagnostic test to determine if your hardware is at fault.

Please disconnect and then reconnect the power supply on the printer and make sure it makes a setup noise when the cable is reattached. Will the printer perform a form feed with paper loaded when the purple/silver button is pressed?

Next, I'd like you to attempt this printer self-test by following the steps given below:

1. Press the "Settings" button on the printer.
2. Press the checkmark button when you see "Maintenance" on the display. 3. Press the right or left arrow key until you see "Print Test Page," then press the checkmark button.

The self-test should at least print out a set of either black or color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously). Should this test fail, try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with only the color cartridge installed. (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed.) If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, let us know. This includes any print quality issues, we need to know if the problems you have with your black or color are based in the printer, or communications with your computer, or the computer's software.

If the self-test prints your test bar(s) clearly, the printer hardware is not at fault. The issue may be a communication problem, or perhaps a software conflict.

However, please let us know the windows operating system installed on the computer.(Windows XP / 2K / NT, Windows Vista, Mac)

Please let us know the name and version of the operating system (Windows XP / 2K / NT, Windows Vista, Mac) that you are using on your computer. This information is important for us to troubleshoot the issue further.
