Tv turns off without warning. No sound, no nothing. Switch plug to different outlet, plays for 5 minutes and shuts off again.

Well my mom was watching tv and it just shut off so then my mom turned it back on thinking she might have hit the power button accidentally. But when she turns it on it started blinking the green light for...

The flashing light red power light should only stay while the fan cool down for about 1 minute after a power off (remember to always wait before unplugging the TV so the lamp can cool down with the fan). Does that flashing start right away after plugging back the TV after an hour of letting it without AC power.

The red light should flash no longer than 10 sec. This prepare the light to be turned on. If all is OK the green should stay (no longer flashing) and the sound and picture come on.

As for the lamp flashing, i bet it's only 1 time each 5 sec? Or do it group many rapid flash each 5 sec?

Things that can be wrong:
-the fan lamp

-the lamp is not proprely inserted (wait an hour before manipulating it to be sure it cooled down, and use glove to not put body oil on it).

-Lamps is defective and is not operating properly so you can't get to the usual on screen message that recommend to change the lamp.

When the tv is off for a while then turned on its all snowy takes

Going into the service mode will not do nothing to fix the set as you can make the problem much worse by changing any settings. Stay out of there. First there are two probable causes for the problem. The Main bd can be bad as well as the P-Logic bd can be bad. Have a trained Samsung tech troubleshoot the set to find the problem.

I am having the same problem with my Sylvania. I opened it up and discovered that a capacitor had blown. But, without the proper equipment for the job, I can do nothing about it at the moment. I don't intend to take it to the repair shop, because I got it for free, but I think I can invest around $20 into it so it will run for my XBox.
