I'm a Canon service person,There is a ring inside the frunt of the toner housing of the IR2050 that is not moving back into place when the old toner cart. is removed. It needs to be pushed back up (I beleave counter colck wise) before the new unit is able to slide back in.Its a bit of a trick because it can slide back down before you get the new toner in.This will work I've done it many times.

Re: Canon Imagerunner C2050 changing toner
Did remove all of the packing off the cartridge before installing the cartridge. Also, is it the right type of cartridge for that you need and or the right color... It should be easy to install if you are installing the right cartridge... Good Luck

Hi, remove toner out, slide cover in left side, pull out the drum unit by metal wire hinge, on top of the drum are two blue handles wich you need to realese, put in new drum, lock again the two blue handles, put it back in ( drum unit ), slide cover to right, put back the toner.
Open front cover, realese the blue toner handle, pull out toner unit, put toner crg. on top toner unit, so that arrow poits to copier. Press it and then will pop out tape wich you pull out, not to the end, when it does not go further it is OK, push back the plastic cover that got out, this will realese toner crg.Remove empty toner crg, push back toner unit and lift handle.
NOTE: when toner is empty machine guides you how to change toner on lcd display, you just need to look and press next.
Did you look on the box the toner comes in? Also, when the copier needs toner, the display panel will walk you through the steps of how to install a new toner. The hardest part is getting the toner cartridge OFF. You need to press the front of the developing unit right under the blue cover on the front. The Black piece will push in to release the toner cartridge. Good Luck...
Have you adde the new toner in to the copier and can noy get the spent toner bottle OFF, right? Once you have locked the toner bottle in, you have to pull the Blue lever on the right bottom side of the toner bottle. That is pulled to the right to allow the toner to feed into the hopper. Once the toner is empited from the bottle, you have to push the Blue lever back to the left and push a little harder when it stops. This will release the two claws that hold the bottle locked in. You should be able to tilt the toner bottle up and to the left and then slide the toner bottle to the right and remove the toner bottle. If you can not get the toner bottle off, leave it till a service person comes or somebody else, don't force it, IT WILL MAKE A VERY, VERY, VERY BIG MESS...... The copier will work with it attached. Good Luck... I wouldn't ware white.....
To change the toner on this machine you do not need to take the toner unit out of the machine completly. Toner is meant to be fed with that unit slided out of the machine. Be the case you need to take out that unit. Look below the unit and you should see a white plastic with one screw. remove screw and plastic. And the unit could be taken out easily after that.
Are you sure you have the right toner??? It says it is for the IR-200-210 or dose it say IR-330 & IR- 400? If you look on the inside front door cover there are pictures showing how to install the toner, also there are pictures on the box the toner came in and also the display sceen will walk you through on how to replace the toner.. It slips in only one way and push down on it till it locks in then pull the blue tab till it displays "STOP" then push it back in and the push on the black part on the front of the developer unit to release the toner bottle and close the copier back up and lok the blue lever to the left and you are done. Good Luck
