Question about Edu-Science (10166) Telescope

1 Answer

I purchased an Astro Nova 100 350x telescope from Toys'R'Us Manhattan, took it to my country without opening the box, and found out that the most important pieces were missing -- 4, 9, 12.5 and 20mm diameter eyepieces, and the Barlow lens. Toys'R'Us couldn't help me with my problem by then, because I was already abroad. I am back in the US right now, and I wonder if I could find those pieces. Thank you

Yes, there are several telescope shops in New York that will sell you these. Like Sultan Camera. You can also buy on-line. Here are two retailers:

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: I purchased an Astro Nova

I would suggest sending an email to http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=2255956 detailing your problem and asking them to provide you with the items

Two years ago my son got the astro-nova 102 mm for Xmas. Since then we have not been able to see anything on it, Everything looks dark. Tried to return it to toys r us but since we did not have the receipt...

First NEVER buy another telescope from Toys R Us ------- we get the most complaints on this telescope brand.

Two suggestions-

1. Find a nearby Astronomy club and have the members help you with the scope.

2. This is what is called a REFLECTOR style telescope. Many beginners setup this telescope BACKWARDS. The large mirror is on the bottom of the scope-- and the eyepiece and focuser is on the UP end of the scope near the front on the side of the tube. Like this picture-
http://www.myfirstscope.com/reflector.html

3. Take the scope outside during the day time -- put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. DO NOT USE the 2x barlow if you have one. Practice focusing on a distant object.

DO NOT buy an Edu Science telescope. We receive many complains on these scopes.

Try this web site for a nice small Dobsonian style telescope, like this one.

Looking for replacement parts for astro-nova 100telescope the part is the tripod

They do not sell replacement parts for that "toy" telescope-- which is being sold by Toys R Us.

You might be able to find bolts - nuts-- etc etc at a well stocked hardware store.

Read my TIPS on my profile page.

This is a junk--- toy telescope being to sold by Toys R Us, we receive more complaints on this scope than any other. RETURN IT to Toys R Us.

I bought a 102mm Astro-Nova Telescope. Why cant I see anything?

Why did you buy a telescope being sold by TOYS R US!

We get more complaints on this scope than any other brand.

Read the negative reviews here:

Next time buy from a regular telescope retailer like this one:

Can't see out of eye piece

This is a reflector style telescope. The MIRROR is in the base! Light enters the front near the focuser and goes down the tube and bounces off the mirror and back to the front and through the eyepiece. The EYEPIECE end is pointed up.

Your scope TUBE should look like the reflector telescope on this web page:

http://www.amazon.com/Edu-Science-Astro-Nova-102-Telescope/dp/B001NLOQN2

Wish you had NOT bought this telescope. For about the same price you could have bought this:
http://www.telescope.com/control/product/~category_id=classicdobs/~pcategory=dobsonians/~product_id=08942

The scope above has a 6 inch mirror which is almost twice the size of the scope you bought.

When i look through the lens everything is upside down.

It is normal for a telescope to invert the image. There is no up or down in space so for astronomical use it does not matter.

The reflector telescope is not generally used for terrestrial viewing. However, image erectors can be purchased and are inserted before the eyepiece. This would make everything right side up.
