Question about Washing Machines

Kenmore washer out of balance

I bought a kenmore top load washer at a garage sale, said to be in great shape. The drum seems out of balance because when it is in the spin cycle it vibrates and it is really noisy and even move the washer! My dad and I leveled it on all sides but yet it still shakes and seems out of balance. The basket/drum seems to be slanted towards the back of the washer and you can push on the opposite side to make in even with the opening. The serial number is 110.16502694 It is a Kenmore top loading washer, white, not sure brand or series number but appears to be less than 10 years old. Heavy duty extra large capacity with 3 temp and level settings and 4 cycles (heavy duty, normal, permanent press, and delicate. Please help because the sears lady on the phone offered me a service plan at $214 flat rate and whatever it costs past $500 in repairs is on me. What am I looking at here for repairs, really.

I have the exact same problem with a 2 year old Kenmore Washer. Repair man is coming out on Wednesday, but said the same $214 deal or $500. The diagnostic fee is $65. I'm hoping it doesn't cost much because the thing is brand new and only been used for a year!!

I have a kenmore super capacity that is about 6 years old. It started walking around during the spin cycle and when I pulled it from the wall I found a bolt that had fell out onto the floor. I turned the washer over and it was one of three from the motor. I replaced it and rebalanced the washer according to the owners manual but it still walks and makes noise. I checked for more broken or loose parts and nothing found. I can apply a little downward pressure on the front and it stops the noise.

We didn't have a problem until we moved but now my Model 80 Kenmore (same as above) washer is always out of balance. I figured I would look online first before I took it apart. If I figure anything out I'll post it.

Go to sears.com and find the parts listing for the 110 model number you have listed above .http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/retrieveModelActionHome!retrieve.action;jsessionid=8mJfynqZfmsdSyTnd9kaQw**.shcapp3005?modelNumber=110.16502694+&pop=flush

You might need one of the springs. unplug the washer and take the cabinet off first. look around for broken or missing parts

Kenmore top loader 25811 Drum is off balance

Check the Vibration damper rods to be sure that...
1. They are there and mount is solid.
2. If they are broken in 1/2.
3. The plastic knuckle mounts are not missing/broken.
4. There is oil in the shock absorber/spring section of the rods.

Also - there are suspension springs on the bottom of the tub that could be broken and/or missing.

Replace/repair as necessary.

Pounding noise after wash and final spin

  • The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.
