I have the Airvac zx7000 and it won't turn off unless I unplug it from the wall. Is this an easy fix or do I have to replace the system?

SOURCE: AirVac ZX6000 won't turn off!

There is a relay board inside your unit which is most likely bad. If you have the make and model, you can contact me and I can order the board for you(pending your mechanical abilities). If not, contact your local central vacuum installation company. www.thevacdudes.com

My airvac av2500 powerhead does not work. I bought a replacement and the replacement doesn't work either.

Test the wiring in your hose to insure the power head is getting the proper voltage.

Won't turn off

It's highly probable that the Dyson power switch has gone bad.
You can buy dyson dc14 switch here.
The switch is located right behind the front covering of the neck or handle when you remove the telescopic wand. Please make sure that the vacuum is unplugged before you start this project.

Vacuum has good suction but will not turn off at the handle or when disconnected from the fitting on the wall

Disconnect the low voltage wires going to the vacuum. If the vacuum stays on you have a bad relay. If the vacuum turns off you have a short in the wire somewhere. The bad news is the relays are not available, however there are some companies that sell external relay control boxes that will bypass your units bad relay.

It sounds like you may have a bad hose. Plug the hose into the wall but rotate it 90 degrees from the normal position. This will bypass the switch on the hose. If you look at the wall end of your hose, you will see a metal band around it. That metal band is split into two sections. You are trying to plug in the hose so that the separation of the two pieces of metal is not lining up at the top of your inlet. If your vacuum turns on then you have a bad hose. It is possible that you have a bad switch in the hose, but it is more likely that you have a bad hose.

If your vacuum does not turn on, then you may have a break in your low voltage wire somewhere. You can check to make sure it didn't get disconnected at the unit. If the wire is connected then try to cross the low voltage wire from the relay at the unit with a small screw driver. If the unit does not turn on you have a bad relay.

If it is the relay, AirVac does not provide them. You would need to consider buying a new unit.

No suction from wall outlet. Power to powerhead. Breaker has not been tripped. Manual mode works on cannister in garage. AirVac VM458.

I had the same exact problem and it took about 4 months to find out the problem. I had a paper clip stuck to one of the orifice in the hall way of my house and that is what I had experienced. The other thing is to check the entire tube system because maybe a mouse or rat has chewed into it. It has all to do with the electrical wire throughout the system. Good Luck

Vac running and won't shut off

The first thing I would do is to disconnect the low voltage wires from the unit. Does the unit continue to run? If so, it's probably an internal relay sticking in the unit. You can fix this yourself is you are handy, but I suggest calling your local dealer if you have any doubt. If the unit doesn't continue running, than you most likely have a short in low voltage wiring in your house. Check your inlet valves first by removing the screws and looking behind the faceplates. If you have inlets that are powered with 110v for you power nozzle (Supervalves, or Electravalves), be very careful as you could be exposed to 110vac. Check your vacpans too, if you have any. The wires should not be touching anywhere. If the two wires touch, the machine should come on. Good Luck!!

Sounds like the motor finally siezed on you. Motor is trying to turn but won't thus the hum. Do not allow the vacuum to stay on like this as it may cause a fire. Requires a motor replacement.

Central vac

It is possible that the low voltage wiring that controls your central vacuum has been damaged during the cable work. You can check to see if the low voltage relay is working by shorting the two terminals together at the unit. Just disconnect the two small (18-22 gauge) wires from the unit and short across the terminals where the wires connect. If the unit comes on, the vacuum is fine, and it is most likely the low voltage control wires that have been damaged. It should be a pretty easy fix, if you can get to where the wires are located. They are probably just pulled apart at a joint. Good Luck!!
