First place to start is the dryer vent. Is it clogged where it leaves the machine or even furhter down. A clogged vent will dramatically reduce the efficiency of your dryer to the point where it may not dry clothes at all.

Our Maytag Centennial Electric dryer is not cycling in auto dry mode but will in timer mode. Any thoughts?

There is a sensor that the clothes have to touch when the drum spins. This sensor measures how wet the clothes are. If you don't have enough of a load in the dryer then the sensor wont detect the dryness. Or it could be a bad sensor or connection or main board.

sounds like an air flow problem meaning the dryer is not exhausting the hot air. Best way to check is to disconnect exhaust tubing from dryer and run a cycle. If the clothes dry normally the vent to the outside is plugged. Hope this helps

Brand new Maytag Centennial electric dryer does not dry clothes!

It may have shipping damage, such as a loose or broken connection or heating element.

But if it's brand new, it's under warranty, and they will fix it free.

Does the dryer dry fine? If your dryer is taking too long too dry you might have a venting obstruction that is not allowing the dryer too sense that the clothes are dry so the timer won't advance. Try disconnecting the vent from the back of the dryer and dry a load unvented and see if the timer advances.

Noisy dryer with long dry time

check to see if the fans are loose if so replace them this will also cause poor drying time.iI find its better to dismanttle these dryers and check the rollers, belt and jockey pulley at the same time.they look hard to work on but they are easy just take you time theres generally no wires to undo.
