How to completely uninstall a software

How to remove leftover files, folders and registry keys after uninstalling a software:
OK, first lets see what actually happens when we install a software?
When we install a software it copies some of its files usually in C:\Program Files , C:\Windows\System32 , Registry.
If we uninstall a Software from Add/Remove Program ( Win+R --> appwiz.cpl), it removes some files from C:\program Files only.
It will not remove the softwares supporting files and folders from System32 or Registry.
Now lets see how to remove these leftover files:
I use a small freeware utility called Revounistaller for this process.
What is Revounistaller ?
Revo Uninstaller helps you to uninstall and remove unwanted programs installed on your computer even if you have problems uninstalling and cannot uninstall them from "Windows Add or Remove Programs" control panel applet. Revo Uninstaller is a much faster and more powerful alternative to "Windows Add or Remove Programs" applet! With its advanced and fast algorithm, Revo Uninstaller analyzes an application's data before uninstall and scans after you uninstall an application. After the program's regular uninstaller runs, you can remove additional unnecessary files, folders and registry keys that are usually left over on your computer. Even if you have a broken installation, Revo Uninstaller scans for an application's data on your hard disk drives and in the Windows registry and shows all found files, folders and registry keys so you can delete them.
With its unique "Hunter mode", Revo Uninstaller offers you some simple, easy to use, but effective and powerful approaches to manage (uninstall, stop, delete, disable from auto starting) and to get information about your installed and/or running programs.

Uninstalled Kodak easyshare and at start up I get this error there was a problem starting C:proga~3KodakEasyShareSetup$REGIS~1Registration_8.2.30.1sxt

use an uninstaller like revo
http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html?part=dl-6294459&subj=dl&tag=button
It will do a complete uninstall of all the leftovers the software uninstaller leaves behind.I know this sounds stupid but reinstall then use Revo to uninstall it and you'll have no more error messages.

Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\BAR\3.BIN\M3PLUGIN.DLL

Did you recently delete or uninstall a program? The startup folder may be looking for the key in your registry, which may lead to a now-unused file extension.

The "easy" fix (so as not to mess directly with the registry manually), go to www.cnet.com, download "cccleaner", and run it's registry component (scan for issues and fix). Ccleaner is non-spyware, non-ad-ware and is very efficient in catching most "leftovers" in the registry (also is beautiful for cleaning out your cache, temp files, and temp internet with secure file shredder. And (drum roll) it's free :)

Hope this helps!

PS -- IF... by chance, you didn't uninstall anything, and haven't deleted any program recently, you MAY want to run your antivirus software (full scan). I would suggest rebooting in safe mode, downloading the latest definitions, and running a full scan)... good luck! -- Roonie

HI,

First download and install revo uninstaller from this website:

www.revouninstaller.com

next after you install it you will see Nero 9 in that and just click on it and then click on Uninstall at the top click next the applications uninstaller will begin then you need to uninstall it.If it says that it cannot be uninstalled or says that dll was not found cancel it and then on revo uninstall again click on next it will scan for registry files then you need to check all bolded registry items and then click on delete.Make sure you only tick bolded items dont remove then ones which are not bolded this will crash your pc.

After you are done with that then it will scan for left orver files and you need to click on slect all and then click on delete.Thats all you will be able to reinstall Nero;

Problem downloading Itunes on Dell P.C.

try the following procedure.

first, head into your start> control panel >Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.

next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/ (Copy ans paste the link in internet explorer)

next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:

Removing iTunes and QuickTime for Windows

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=en_US

now try to install itunes again. does it go through properly this time?

If not then also try installing latest windows installer software

(Sometimes an iTunes entry or QuickTime entry doesn't show up in cleanUp, in conjunction with a missing .msi message, if there's an older version of the Windows Installer on the PC.)
