Toshiba 42hp83 dusting

This toshiba just clicked off and did the red light blinks twice (possible stand-by mode). All of my setting were checked between shutf offs. The tv will only stay on 20-30 seconds. I want to try the fan cleaning, but have a wall mounted unit. Are the fans easy to access or will I need to dismount and remove all the screws to get to the fans?
thanks,
peter in modesto

I had the same problem. I took off the back cover, and vacuumed dust off fans. The tv worked fine for 2 days, now it keeps powering off again. The right fan doesn't seem to be working correctly. Does this mean the fans are bad and need replacement, or should I check something else first before replacing these?

TV stay on 30 second then turn off it self, then light blink twice.

I have the same problem... thought it was sleep mode, but it just powers down no matter what. On for a few seconds. Then off. After it turns off, the red light "double-blinks" repeatedly. two flashes, then pause, then two flashes and so on...

I have the same problem. We had a pretty serve thunderstorm last night, and this morning when I turned the TV on it would only stay on for like 30 seconds (then shut down, and the red light would blink). I have a surge protector on the TV, but I'm wondering if it still experienced some sort of excessive jolt. Any ideas?

The fans are easy to get to, but you'll have to take it off the wall. It has two fans. Both located at the top.

Code for Sky+ remote to work with Toshiba TV AV635DB

Hi there. I have just bought the same television today and I have just found that the remote code 0156 does actually work. The mistake i initially made was not pressing the TV BUTTON after I had held in the SELECT and RED Buttons together, making the light blink twice. So here's what I did:

1. Press the TV button
2. Hold in the Select and Red Button until the red light flashes twice
3. Press the TV button again
4. Enter the code 0156 (The Red light will blink Twice again)
5. Test the controller - Try to change the volume
6. If it works, press SELECT one last time to save the settings.

Hope this helps.

Toshiba 42hp83 plasma power supply problem?

I had the same problem. It turned out that one of the cooling fans get dusty and does not work. I opened the back of the Toshiba plasma TV and cleaned the failed fan, and it worked like a champ.

Television shuts off after being on for 30-60 seconds.

I just had the same problem with mine (Toshiba 42HP85) The TV was fine and shutoff red light blinked twice, and you can turn it on agin right away then it shuts off again. The problem was there are 2 cooling fans you can here at the top rear of the unit, when they get dusty the bearings wear out and shut off. See if you can here 1 or both fans working. If only one is on, you can get a replacement from coolguys.com for 7.95 ea. model # is on the back of the fan. Replace both while you have the cover off, if that's the problem. The unit shutting off is the computer sensing there is a problem the red light is an error warning. Good Luck!
