This toshiba just clicked off and did the red light blinks twice (possible stand-by mode). All of my setting were checked between shutf offs. The tv will only stay on 20-30 seconds. I want to try the fan cleaning, but have a wall mounted unit. Are the fans easy to access or will I need to dismount and remove all the screws to get to the fans?

Turn on your Toshiba TV. Press the TV button on your Sky remote control. Hold the Select and RED buttons for several seconds until the LED blinks twice then release. Press the TV button again Enter the 4 digit brand code: 0156 - the LED will blink twice Point the remote at the TV and press the Stand by button. If the television goes into Stand By press the SELECT button to store this code. If the TV does not go in to Stand by mode, press the TV button and repeat from step 6
Hi there. I have just bought the same television today and I have just found that the remote code 0156 does actually work. The mistake i initially made was not pressing the TV BUTTON after I had held in the SELECT and RED Buttons together, making the light blink twice. So here's what I did:
1. Press the TV button
2. Hold in the Select and Red Button until the red light flashes twice
3. Press the TV button again
4. Enter the code 0156 (The Red light will blink Twice again)
5. Test the controller - Try to change the volume
6. If it works, press SELECT one last time to save the settings.
Press the MUTE button twice on the remote control, then press and hold the MUTE button, while pressing the MUTE button press the MENU button on the TV at the same time. This should get you into the service mode Good luck and be careful.
I just had the same problem with mine (Toshiba 42HP85) The TV was fine and shutoff red light blinked twice, and you can turn it on agin right away then it shuts off again. The problem was there are 2 cooling fans you can here at the top rear of the unit, when they get dusty the bearings wear out and shut off. See if you can here 1 or both fans working. If only one is on, you can get a replacement from coolguys.com for 7.95 ea. model # is on the back of the fan. Replace both while you have the cover off, if that's the problem. The unit shutting off is the computer sensing there is a problem the red light is an error warning. Good Luck!
