Most likely source of sqeak fornt front glides or rear bearing, the front glides can be seen be removing the front panel, 4 plastic strips the tub rests on and spins across, they will look worn or even missing if thats the casse( they simply twist on) as far as the rear bearing ,,a.k.a. "top hat" , for it looks liek a top hat, the drum is simply pulled foward and out of rear post and the bearing can be reinstalled without even removeing the belt form the pulley

Ge frontloader dryer is squeeking incessantly, high pitch squeek driving us all crazy. by manually turning the drum i can isolate the squeek, but cannot see anything wrong. does it need to be taken...

There is a teflon bearing that holds the back of the drum you will need to replace. To get to it remove the top cover, take off the control panel, remove the front cover, take off the belt, then take the drum out, ususlly by lifting it up as you pull it foward. While have it all apart I would reccomend replacing the teflon glides at the front that the drum rides on.

My dryer is squeeking and grinding, but not all the time. What could be wrong? When it first starts, it sounds like it is grinding, but continues to work. After a few minutes, it stops. Then it will start...

One of two issues is going on, or maybe both. The first cause for the grinding noise is going to be the main bearing that is bad, and needs to be replaced. The squeaking is actually coming from the belt. So I would check under the unit and make sure that you do not have any metal shavings under the unit. Then also check the belt

Taking a ge dryer apart to replace worn belt. the dryer works fine with light load but squeeks with medium to heavy load. drying time is fine.

you will need to replace the drum glides near the front of the drum, just behind the door, which will require you to remove the front panel to access the glide unit, there is a gold and a green glide, you will need to get the right one after disassembly

Elec. dryer squeeks...squeeks...squeeks...replaced belt, did not improve. Could it be the plastic drum slides, I only say this because they look really worn?

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS

Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication

If you have a front loading machine,

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor.
Now is a good time to check the belt to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If the rollers don't have flat spots on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Squeeks loadly when running

The drum belt is slipping or a support wheel bearing is worn.  Spray some belt dressing on the belt or replace the belt.  Lubricate the wheel bearing or replace it.  It is also possible that the seal between the drum and the housing (at the back) is worn and the drum is rubbing metal-to-metal on the housing.

Dryer was squeeking now not spinning

It sounds like the dryer belt is wore out or broken, you can usually order a replacement belt from the maker of your dryer at there website.
