Question about Vacuums

2 Answers

I bought a house that has a 1970s GE microwave oven that's built-in above a traditional oven. (Unfortunately, I can't locate a model number for the microwave.) I'd appreciate having information about the "food temp control," which is on the front of the oven. There is a wire probe that goes from the inside of the microwave to the food. I assume that relates to the "food temp control." I'd appreciate having any information about how to use the "food temp control." Also, I 'd like to know whether adjusting the "food temp control" has any effect on the cooking time for food in the microwave for which the probe is not used. Many thanks.

Thank you very much for your speedy and very helpful response. I took some photos of the microwave oven, but I couldn't find any information on Fixya about how to upload the photos so that you can see them. I'd appreciate having your guidance on how to do that. Thanks!

Meanwhile, my apologies for my message ending up the "vacuum" category. I don't know how that happened, so I especially appreciate your response to my question about my microwave.

Many thanks for your speedy and helpful response. After getting your message, I took some pictures of my microwave. However, I couldn't figure out how to upload the photos so you can see them. I'd appreciate having your guidance about how to do that. Meanwhile, my apologies for my original inquiry being in the "vacuums" category. I don't know how that happened.

After getting your response, I sent a reply, but I haven't gotten a response to that. So,
I'll give it another try. I took some photos of the oven, but couldn't figure out how to
upload them for you to see. Please let me know how to do that. Thanks!

I figured out how to upload some photos. I hope these help. Unfortunately,
I couldn't find an owner's manual for the microwave.

The photos are of the entire microwave, the control panel, and the probe inside the
    microwave. Thanks for your help.

After getting an initial response to my inquiry, I posted several replies -- including the photos that were requested. However, I have not heard anything since that first response.

Thank you. I'd also like to know whether adjusting the "food temp control" has any effect on the temperature or perhaps wattage in the oven and/or the cooking time for food for which the probe is not used. Many thanks.

We will definitely need at bare minimum a picture in order to provide any assistance with a specific product control feature like your talking about finding instructions manuals would be very easy if you were able to give us anything more than a 1970's ge microwave alot of the time people would keep the manuals for appliances in the kitchen as they normally get passed with any warranty's to the new owner

hope this helps

Where is the fuse located in the microwave? The model is a Whirlpool MH6700XV1 made in Sept 89. It is a wall unit over the oven microwave.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

There are acutally 2 fuses in this unit. The thermal fuse is item 3 and the regular fuse is item 7 of this link: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=238334

Both fuses are on the rear of the unit inside the back panel attached to the air guide (Item 5 above link)

Make sure the unit is powered off before changing any fuse. Most fuses fail due to a component failure. High Voltage Diode, Capacitor, Magnetron or an interlock switch. If you replace the fuse and hear a loud humming when you try to use it most likely the diode has failed. DO NOT do anything beyond the fuse without grounding the capacitor first. It will ruin your day if it is charged and you touch a wire terminal. Any testing is done at your own risk knowing the dangers of same.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I have a kenmore elite microwave oven model 363 63692301 stoped heating food ;. fan & turntable work. HELP!

Hello, two things. The mega-tron tube is gone south, or the HV diode is open/shorted to ground which will cause to open. If the microwave meta-tron tube is bad then recyle your microwave oven and buy a new microwave oven. One can buy a new microwave oven cheaper than buying a microwave tube. GB...stewbison

Where is the ceramic fuse located in an emrson microwave/model # mw8991sb?

Its usually mounted at the point where the power cord enters the back of the unit. You will need to UNPLUG the microwave oven and remove the exterior case to access.

The compatible model for mw8991sb is the MW8901XS0 model.

Here is the link for the exploded diagram of the parts where you can find the location of the fuse.
