Trouble with ipod nano not turning on

My daughter has an Ipod Nano and the cover popped off and the battery pack had expanded. We were able to get it put back together but now when we try and turn it on or charge it the only thing that happens is an apple blinks on the screen. Any solutions? Can you get another battery for an ipod?

Greetings,
You can get new batteries for iPods but a short in the unit could be causing the problem and you would just be throwing money away. Typically if a rechargeable battery has expanded it may be ready to explode which can badly burn your skin. I would urge you to dispose of the nano as quickly as you can at a place that excepts e-waste. Check here for locations: http://earth911.org/
Good luck

What do you do when there is a black screen on your ipod

Does it have a green line in middle of screen ??

Apple has some suggestions to try before taking it in to an Apple store. Most iPod Nanos are covered by a one year warranty, and you may have purchased a longer warranty. For questions about your warranty and coverage, call Apple customer service. If your iPod is still covered and you live near an Apple store, it may be faster to take it in.

Charge the iPod Nano for several hours to make sure the problem isn't a low battery. Force reset the iPod Nano by holding down the Sleep button and the volume down button at the same time for 8-10 seconds or until the Apple logo appears. Restore your iPod Nano by plugging it into iTunes and clicking on the iPod, then "Restore." This will wipe all information on your iPod Nano and install the latest version of its operating system. Re-sync your data to the iPod Nano after a restore.

Why is my ipod 4g screen blank

is it an ipod nano ?

Remove the two screws on the panel on top of the Nano and remove the top panel.

Use a case opener tool to pop the plastic screen cover off the unit.

Slide the screen up to expose the orange ribbon cable on the bottom of the screen that connects to the motherboard.

Unplug the orange ribbon cable from its port and slide the screen out of the Nano.

Fit a new screen in the Nano and plug the ribbon cable into the port.

Replace the screen cover and top panel of the Nano.

Won't turn on

Is your iPod fully charged? Sometimes the batteries become so depleted of charge that an accessory charger won't turn it on.

-Try plugging it in to your computer or a wall charger for a while, time will vary but it may turn on.

-If it is not turning on your computer will never recognize it, thus you won't be able to do a restore with iTunes.

-Try a hard restart as well this could help you.

Is there a way to override or reset the password on the iPod Nano

Unfortunately, if the password has been forgotten, you will have to "Restore" the iPod, which will erase all the songs and other files that are currently on there.

To update or restore iPod nano:
1 Make sure you have an Internet connection and have installed the latest version of
iTunes from www.apple.com/ipod/start.
2 Connect iPod nano to your computer.
3 In iTunes, select iPod nano in the Source pane and click the Summary tab.
The Version section tells you whether iPod nano is up to date or needs a newer version
of the software.
4 Click Update to install the latest version of the software.
5 If necessary, click Restore to restore iPod nano to its original settings (this erases all data
from iPod nano). Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the restore process.

You have to reset your iPod. (Note: This is for the 3rd generation iPod Nano)

To reset iPod nano:
1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
2 Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If iPod nano won’t turn on or respond

- Make sure the Hold switch isn’t set to HOLD.
- The iPod nano battery might need to be recharged. Connect iPod nano to your computer or to an Apple USB Power Adapter and let the battery recharge. Look for the lightning bolt icon on the iPod nano screen to verify that iPod nano is receiving a charge.
