Question about Sony VAIO Digital Studio PCV-RX680G (PCG-RX680G) PC Desktop

Open Question

I have a Vaio PCV-7762. A colleague helped me clean it up and get rid of a virus. Now I stick a flash drive(many different ones) in and it doesn't show up when I go to find it on My Computer. When I stick the flash drive in, there is a message about "this device can perform stronger", and a window that comes "Welcome to new found hardware wizard". I says if your hardware came w/ an installation CD to install it now. There isn't any and they work on other machines. The one choice is to install the software automatically and the other choice is to install from a list or specific location(advanced)many other locations, but that leads a message that says the specified location does not exist or cannot be reached. My ipod does shows up when I put that in a USB port. I frustrated not being able to find the flash drive(s) so I can open them up and transfer information. Thanks. Steve

SOURCE: Questionable UPDATE install on PC

Not sure what the update could be, but to very its not a virus, try this FREE online tool. It is EXTREMELY good and removes viruses and malware that even Norton cannot. Remember to do a full system scan. May take a while, but is well worth it:

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. – I would greatly appreciate a FixYa!rating if the solution I provided fixed or helped you resolve your problem.

SOURCE: Problem with Sony Vaio pcv-rx860 (screen goes black at startup)

I would suggest first to try to take one stick of memory out and try to boot up the pc. Sometimes, one or both of the memory sticks can go bad or the memory slot on the motherboard itself can go bad. If that is not the case I would then remove all of the usb connected to the computer and last i would test the power supply.

First of all, the Sony Vaio desktop case is like trying to open Fort Knox. It is quite well built, but hardly gives any clues about how to open it to work on it inside. Here's a link that specifically addresses this situation:

My 8 year-old Sony Vaio PCV-V200G is very slow; I've heard of Registry & script problems. Also, My Norton AntiVirus protection constantly does background scanning. Could these be the reasons for slow...

Most likely yes. You should uninstall any software that comes by default with the manufacturer. Even better, reinstall your windows so you get all your setting clean.
Then just install window anti virus and you should be fine.

Most probably you have a drive letter conflict? If so, right click "My computer" choose "Manage" and locate "Disk management" - here, in the middle lower panel, you should be able to find your usb-memory stick, right click it and assign it a drive letter that you're sure is not in use.
