Question about Toshiba CF36H50 36" TV

3 Answers

Toshiba Problem I have a Toshiba CF36H50 tv. The problem I am having is that when you turn it on, all I get is a horizontal line across the screen. The picture will come back up after some time, 10-30minutes later. The audio is fine and can hear the shows. Any suggestions of what part needs to be replaced? Thanks, H

I have the same problem with same TV. It occurred exactly one day after Cablevision installed a cable box on the TV. Too much of a coincidence. Could the cable box have blown the capacitors?

Redeye, I got the same vert. problem (horizontal line). It seems the answer is here. The same thing I'd do is the capacitor check. It's exspensive to replace ($5) and luckily I still have my cap checker.and solder joints . thanks! lonnie lefeavers

This sounds to me more like a vertical sweep problem. Check for cold solder joints at the vertical output and the coupling and decoupling caps around it.

There are white thin horizontal lines across the top 2" of Toshiba 27DF47 TV. Can this be repaired and how much would this repair cost?

Check and replace all the electrolytic capacitors at its vertical output section circuit. There will be five or 6 of them. Replace all.

Horizontal line 2 in from bottom of screen.

I hate to say this but, it sounds like the vertical portion of the tv's electronics has failed. Ouch!!!
If the TV is more than 5 years old....It's more than likely not worth fixing. Call around tomorrow and see if parts are still available ....good luck to you!!

I think you have a vertical problem. Turn up screen voltage to see if there is a tin horizontal line across screen. If so replace vertical output IC and the 100uf/35v capacitor in the vertical circuit.

it sounds like a b+ cap going bad and is intermittant that feeds the the video drivers on the crt pcb or the crt is shorting. I have seen intermittant shorts in crt before.
