Hi,
you,ve got 1 of several problems here.
1:- A Virus may have locked off the hard-drive.
2:- The RAM is faulty.
3:- The CPU is faulty.
Ensure the battery is left on to charge fully, and retry to boot the System.

Problem with Toshiba Satellite L455-S5009 laptop Push the start button and i sounds like i is starting and 4 -5 seconds it shuts down. Is it worth working on?

If you have friends or family that want one then i would give it a go, unscrew the hard drive cover take the hard drive out and give it a good blow, if you have another hard drive to try then give that a go, maybe the bios needs sorting out, you can try taking the battery out no power, press the on/off button for a minute then put it back and see what happens, i take it you have a power lead to plug it in? this is another thing i would check, if all fails after this then its up to you lol, you couls always sell in parts on flea-bay, hope this helps ;))

My laptop won't start... please

Not sure but it sounds like the hard drive is causing the problem. Lap tops are set up so that any problems with them they shut down, and a bad hard drive will shut you down the way you are describing. The only test i know for this is to remove the hard drive and see if you can get the computer to at least boot. If you can with no hard drive then it usually means the drive has failed. Not sure if this will help, but hope it helps.

I have the same problem with this computer if you are like me the battery life is also VERY short so it goes dead quite often.

I fixed a laptop a few months back with this problem "or atlest the exact same symptoms" what I did to fix it was take out the ram and the bio battery which rest the the bios and I was able to start it normally.

I however am currently unable to easily find the bios battery on this motherboard. I have been looking for a diagram to no success. I know about computers but dont want to just start taking it appart. If you find the battery or a diagram please let me know.

Toshiba Satellite A105 PC Notebook

When you turn it on, do you hear any activity? Motors start working, fan spinning, etc…? Try to connect an external monitor and start the laptop. Check if you can get any video on the external monitor. If the external monitor is dead too, try to remove the battery and start the laptop from the AC adapter. It also might be a bad memory module or a bad connection between the memory and the motherboard. Try to reseat the memory module, move it to the second slot. If you have two memory modules, try to remove them one by one and turn on the laptop. Also, try to remove the hard drive and see if you can boot it to Toshiba screen without the hard drive installed.

There is no special button to reseat the BIOS settings. To do it, you’ll have to access the BIOS using F2 button on the laptop start up, but as you have no video, you cannot access the BIOS and set it to defaults.
