Question about Weather King Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Dear Sir/Madam, The 30-amp, 2-Pole Contactor, White Rodgers item/part no. 90-244 recently failed in our Weather King 90-Plus air-conditioning system (in the outdoor unit). Other "identifiers" on the ID label of the removed part are: "RBM TYPE 122" and "122-901". Could you please tell me if I can purchase the replacement part from you and what it would cost? And, what would your delivery time be? Thank you for your kind service and the great performance of your Weather King system for us over the years. Sincerely, Earle Gould Wilmington, Delaware tel: 302-999-9132

Try going to a local airconditioning supply or ask a tech for a double pole 30 amp 24 volt contactor.

check the outside unit to see if it is running. If its not check the run cap which is the big silver round object. Make sure you are getting 240 volts to the contactor;

A/c blower comes on but outside unit does not

do you have power to the outside unit. If so you may have a bad contactor or loose 24 v control wiring

We have a weather king central air unit mod# WAKA-030JAZ. ser#5339 mo6959417. volts 208/230. compressor rla 13 5/13.5. outdoor fan motor f.l.a.9. mfd 02/05. hertz 60. l.r.a.76. hp1/6 min supply...

I would bet the outside units contactor is bad. This is the device where the two thermostat wire connect outside. If this is pulling in/out as you turn the stat on/off then it is working. I just fixed one yesterday with the same symptoms and found the start capacitors were bad. If they are bulged at the top or bottom then they are bad. Good luck.

You don't have the t'sat wires to the outdoor unit hooked up. They should be on the y & c terminals. If they are you may have a burnt out contactor coil. It should read 24volts at the contactor coil when you are calling for cooling

Amps needed to run a central air unit

Central air requires a 2 pole 30 amp breaker or fuse. You may be able to get by without it but 200 amp service is recommended.
