Question about ATI RADEON Graphic Card

Fitted ATI Radeon x300 - 64 MB graphics card into the PCI e slot. I want to know whether power supply to the card is coming from the slot itself or we have to give separate connection?

Yes the motherboard powers the card but you need to make sure your power supply is sufficient enough to run the video card

Hi, Is Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 Silence 1GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low Profile PCI-Express Video Card capable for my Compaq HP Presario SR2020NX? -thanks a lot.

You mean will the Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 with 1GB of graphics memory, work in a Compaq Presario SR2020NX Desktop PC?

Yes.

The Compaq Presario SR2020NX Desktop PC has a PCI-Express x16 expansion slot.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00757470&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=3245048

{Motherboard illustration and photo are towards the bottom of the page}

Look at the specifications.
Scroll down to the heading - Expansion slots.

Three PCI. (PCI expansion slots)

One PCI Express x16 graphics.

NOTE*
Looking at the motherboard illustration, it is Wrong.
Shows - PCIEX1 (PCI E X1)
According to the specifications it is a PCIEX16 expansion slot. (PCI-E x16)

A PCI-Express x1 slot has 36 contact pins. 18 on each side.

In comparison a PCI slot {White} has 124 contact pins. 62 on each side.

Looking at the photo of the supposed PCI-E x1 slot they show, the black PCI-Ex1 slot is longer than the white PCI slots.

It is a PCI-Express x16 slot with 164 pins. 82 on each side.

The Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 uses a PCI-Express x16 expansion slot.

So you know the graphics card will fit. Low-profile to boot.

Power requirement:
The Compaq Presario SR2020NX desktop computer comes with a 300 Watt power supply.
(Although in actuality it's more like 70 percent of the maximum rated wattage. 210 Watts)

Enough power for the computer, and the graphics card.
ATI graphics cards do not use as much power as a comparable Nvidia graphics card.

Concerned that the Asus graphics card uses DDR3 graphics ram memory, and the Presario SR2020NX uses DDR2 Sdram ram memory?

Don't be. The graphics cards graphics memory runs independent of the computer's ram memory.

Hello,

I am presuming you have XP on your computer.

According to ATI, this graphics board should work fine in a spare PCI slot.

Install in the top PCI slot as your CMOS detects top to bottom.
XP should detect the ATI board and will ask for drivers.
Install your CD drivers and or software as needed.

If you have VIsta or Windows 7, it does not appear ATI supports them for drivers.

Good Luck

I had a custom built computer that was damaged in shipping: P55A-UD4, i7 860, ATI HD 5870, 8GB ram, Windows 64 bit, 120GB SSD running 3 monitors (2x20" 5:4, 24" 16:10). It would start-up but fail...

With everything you have i would look at power supply and see if you have enough power supply to operate video card motherboard etc.
Power supply could be overloaded and not able to operate video card correctly.
Which could cause issues with trying to run 2 or 3 monitors

The card doesn't need a power connection. I would download the driver first, then install the card. If the driver will not install this way, install the card first.

Ati radeon 9550 agp with pinnacle pctv hd problem please help

Try to put it on another pci slot. if you are using the one right under the agp, then that is your culprit.  the agp and the top pci slot share video resources.  just put it on another pci slot, if you have to swap another non-video related card to the one just beneath the agp slot.  Hope this helps.

Need new card, system requirements confusing

Radeon X800 XL is a PCI-E (PCI-Express) card, you can replace it with any current ATI or nVidia video card that uses the PCI-E slot. Since you already have a PCI-E card before, I would bet you already meet most of the system requirements.

Comparable cards to the ATI All In Wonder 9700 Pro 128 MB

Hello there. The Radeon 9700 Pro was a high end graphics card in its time. Today the latest Radeon cards are 3870X2, 3870 and 3850 models. The 3850, while mid-high end range, would be a substantial upgrade from the Radeon 9700 Pro.

If you are planning to upgrade your system, make sure you choose the correct type of card (AGP/PCI-E) and that your current system has a good enough power supply to power a new upgrade.

Hope this helps.

The ATI Radeon x700ez is connected via PCI-Express slot to your motherboard. You need to specify your motherboard model, so ppl know if it has a PCI-Express or an AGP slot.

Items In Device Manager Not Recognized By XP Hi I am hoping that someone here can help me out with problems I have with my new graphics card, I am not sure if it is a software problem or a hardware one. The computer I have was made up by a friend three years ago and I just felt it was time to upgrade my graphics card! So I got the HIS HD 4670 IceQ 1GB (128bit) 850 MHz DDR3 PCIe a few days ago and loaded it yesterday with the updates that I could find on the internet. However this morning when I started my computer I got to my desktop and while it was loading the computer rebooted itself and has been working ok since. But I got a error warning when I returned to windows and it told me to update my drivers and hardware! I also noticed that in the hardware profiles I have the following with question marks on them; ? ! PCI Memory Controller ? ! SM Bus Controller ! Unknown Device (Sound, video and game controllers) So would these three items be causing my problems or something else? Plus does anyone know how I can resolve these issues? Just in case you need to know what I have in my computer, here is what I think you might need to know; Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Super Mini Tower (With The SmartPower 2.0 450W ATX12V v2.01 Power Supply) 1 Rear 120mm Tri Cool Fan AMD 64 Athlon 3200+ 3 GB of Ram 250GB Hard Drive 500 GB External Drive Windows XP Pro (Service Pack 3) And if you need any more information, please let me know can I can supply it. I appreciate anyone?s help with these problems. Thanks Mark
