Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I recently opened my computer and broke the connection for the plug that displays my monitor and need to find the part to fix this issue. My other problem is that when I plug my headphones in, it doesn't work and plays sound on my laptop.

Display says 'out of range'

Do you remember making any changes to the computer recently?

This seems to be a connection problem or the cable is gone bad.

I would suggest that you connect the monitor to another CPU unit if you have this is to check if the monitor itself is gone bad.
Also make sure that the connection to the monitor is correct.
Also try connecting another monitor to the computer and check.
This issue may also occur if the signal from the video adapter exceeds the scan range of the monitor. The video adapter setting for updating the screen (the refresh rate) is incompatible with the monitor.

"Cannot display this video mode"

first thing check all power cables and monitor cables are plugged in properly , also you might check the monitor cable , inside the medal housing to see if any pins were broke off while moving. this would be an easy fix , just buy a new cable. if not check to see if you have a video card and that it is not moving around and properly seated to motherboard. if not most pc's are onboard video which would be entirely different issue. most of the time when moving pc's its usually a simple fix.

I plugged in an Envision Monitor, H190L, to my HP Pavillion a1020n. I get No Signal and then a blank screen. How do I fix this?

Hi

Often there is noting wrong with the display, in most cases the problem is with the computer.

Try the monitor in both of the display outputs your system has, some machines only have one.

If the monitor remains blank on both cases and it works in another computer, then the issue is quite clear that your hp pavilion is not starting up properly, possibly the display adapter has stopped working or similar.

Do you get any beeps from the computer? Have you done any changes to the machine recently? have you tried any other displays with the machine?

If you are in warranty you should get in touch with hp directly to avoid voiding your warranty and get the machine fixed.

If you are outside of warranty, the machine needs to be tested at a professional to confirm the cause of the problem.

Let me know if you need further assistance or if you would like to open up the case of the computer and do some testing. I would expect that you have some experience and know what parts are what, if you don't know anything about the internals of the computer it might be best to just take it to a professional.

Hi I just bought 7 NEC Multisync LCD1550v monitors and they all have the same problem. when plugged in all i get is a blinking power light. 1 of them showed signs of life for just a second but that was it....

You buy a new LCD Monitors, now still not working., if that new LCD Monitor is OK, then check your VGA Card, its inside the CPU maybe its broke or not connect properly inside. This are the cause of not displaying in your LCD Monitors.
If you here some beeps of your CPU then find out how many beeps and tell us here immediately.

warcryofjuda, One of the guys that I work with brought in a small screen Sceptre DTV/DVI/VGA +audio unit. and it also has a optional TV/tuner module. mod S1701DTV with side mounted speakers. The viewable screen size is 14"w x 8.75"h . Oh! First things first! Turn it OFF and leave it off. Disconnect it and put it in a safe place for now. IT'S BROKE!! It will not work today, and it will not work tomorrow or the next day. Got that? Ok! Now I want to know if you would like to work together with me and explore both of these monitors and possibly come up with a fix for them? Please get back to me via my email with what ever approach you feel is best for you. We have already opened up our unit and I will try to attach some pic's for you to compare your unit with. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@aol.com
Bye for now.

Same problem, acer sucks imo

I think I may have fixed it but I haven't rebooted my computer yet. I uninstalled the latest ATI driver version 9.3 and then installed an older driver version 7.3. Monitor now turns on and off and gets signal every time so far. I'll post back if it the problem comes back after I reboot.

Display dims

My HP laptop monitor would go very dark (sometimes still legible) and it did it infrequently. The problem got worse and I could temporarily fix it by flicking the monitor off botton (i.e. the thing that sticks out to turn the monitor off when you close it). Ultimately, I had to replace the inverter. It was simple (once I found how to take it apart online) to replace the inverter and it fixed the monitor problem. This is after a computer technition told me that I needed a new bulb or for a little more he could get me a new monitor. Maybe there are some good computer repair guys, but I am now leary of them.
