Default copying to black and white on a Konica Minolta Bizhub C353

Hi, I'd really like to know how I can default copying from the front panel to default to greyscale. Folks are forgetting to switch it to greyscale and it's eating up alot of money! I would think there would be a high demand for such a feature, but cannot find it in the admin settings anywhere. I'd also love to set network printing to default to greyscale as well, but I have a feeling this is a driver issue!

Help!

I have a Konica Bizhub C353 - to set the deault copier setting to Black as opposed to Auto:
** first select black on the copy screen **
* Utility/Counter >> User Settings >> Copy Settings >> Default Copy Settings >> switch from "factory settings" to "current settings"

please note: you may need to do this twice (and be sure before you go into user settings that you select black on the copy screen)

I don't think the factory wants you to know how to do this - I couldn't find it in any user manuals and figured it out merely by trial and error!!

I tried and tried...read the manual...and still couldn't find a solution. My former maintenance guy who worked for a local copier company didn't know how to do it either. As a matter of fact, he said he didn't think there is a way to change the default setting to make it stay on color only. I have a C-451 and your solution worked. Thanks again!!

Right click the copier in the print folder and select properties. Then click advanced and at the bottom right select printing defaults. Locate the tab that gives you the choice of Full Color or Greyscale and select Greyscale. This may be the quality tab on most Bizhubs.

Utility/Counter>>Meter Count>>Administrator Settings>>#4 Authentication Account Track>>#2 User Authentication Settings>>#2 User Registration>>Up arrow once and select "Public">>Edit>>Output Permission>>"Allow" or "Restrict"
You can allow or restrict each individual user by selecting a user rather than "Public" at user registration.

Canon Printer MP250 doesn't want to keep the grayscale ONLY setting.many attempts to use only black ink but it keeps on setting color ink by default. SB001

If you are changing to greyscale before you print, it will only stay there for that print job. You need to go to the printer through the control panel - devices - printer and change it to greyscale. It should stay that way then.

Hp photosmart C4180 all in one. I want to set black (greyscale) as default. I can't find where to do this. Can you help?

Hi,

  1. Click start-->Control panel--> Printer & faxes.
  2. Right click on printer icon and click "Properties".
  3. You will find an option to select "print in greyscale" under one of the tabs.
  4. Else, if you dont find there, click "printing Preference" under general tab and check.

The ''odometer'' shows greyscale as colour

Any machine I'm familiar with has a default colour setting that you can set to either colour or black & White. Check in your printer properties. If the machine is set for colour, even if you are printing all black text for example, it will "make" the black from the colours, thus registering it as a colour document.

Problems with greyscale printing as colour on the Canon CLC3220

From whatever software you are printing, you will need to select the properties or features. In Pagemaker, it was features, but most other programs I now see it under properties for the 3220 on the print screen. You will need to find where it gives you the options for color. They should be color, greyscale or black & white. The default is generally color. Generally the 3220 will know if it is not a color document and print the black and white as a greyscale, but sometimes you have to force it.

If you are printing crop marks and color bars, then your document is recognized as color even though it may not be.

Finally, some programs use a black that is actuall 100% of CMY & K. If you are using InDesign and select registration as your black, instead of the plain black, then you document is recognized as color.
The same holds true if you select a pantone grey which is created from several colors. So also make sure that your document is truly greyscale and or that you tell the copier to print in greyscale.

Printed copy in correct page order- HP officejet 6110

Hi :)

This may work and its only a few simple clicks :) but it will take less time then re ordering you pages :)

IN the printer settings or Print preferrences there should be a tab for "Advanced settingings"

Go to Control Panel and select "Printers"
Select the general tab and at the bottom of the window select "PRINTING PREFERENCES"
another window will open
from here select the Advanced tab
Find Layout Options in the list
click it you should see "Page Order" and a drop down menu for front to back or back to front.
switch it to whatever order it is that you need and test it out.

or if that doenst work try this:

Set the most frequently used copy settings as the default. This includes changes to Copy Setup options in the menu system, as well as other front panel copy settings.
  1. Make any desired changes to the copy setup from the menu or the front panel copy option.
  2. Press Menu .
  3. Press 1 , then press 4 . The settings are now saved.

these are the only ways I have found to correct the problem.

Unable to add a functioning (second) printer, for greyscale.

Clicked on Start/Control Panel/PrinterI. Clicked Add a printer. Obtained (Copy 1) of my HP Photosmart C7280 all-in-one printer. Right clicked on (Copy 1)/properties. Opened Ports tab. Saw comment "Print to the following Ports. Documents will print to the first free checked port." A listed USB Virtual printer port, showed three printers -- my first printer, my copy 1 (& my fax printer) -- was unchecked. I placed a checkmark in this Port box. Both the original printer, and my copy 1 printer are printing just fine. *I have not checked to verify that my fax is functional.
I did rename the original "color". I renamed Copy 1 as "grayscale", and --under printer preferences, checked, under "color options", to print in greyscale.

Hi there, I have an Epson DX8450 and would like to know if i can print black without the other colour cartridges. It keeps telling me to insert colour cartriges before i can print. i only have black ink...

Hello weejohnnymc

The printer is likely going to want cartridges inserted (even if they're empty).

Install the used or empty color cartridges. Then go to your printer settings and choose to print by default in "Grey Scale". This will force it to use only the black ink.

If you get low ink notifications from your print monitor, you can either disable the print monitor or disable the notifications. Please, let us know if you need assistance w/ this.

To Set your printer to use Greyscale (black ink only) by default:

START
CONTROL PANEL
PRINTERS AND FAXES
Right Click on the printer In question
Choose PROPERTIES
You should now be at the GENERAL tab
Click on the PRINTING PREFERENCES button at the bottom
Click on the COLOR tab
Place a check mark in the box to the left of PRINT IN GREYSCALE
Click the OK button
Click the OK button again

Please, let us know if this response was helpful for your or, of course, if you have more questions, etc on this topic.

Thank you
BJ

Print Black and White?

When choosing greyscale you should also have the option to "print using black print only" I am assuming you are using WIN XP START BUTTON CONTROL PANEL PRINTERS select the default printer right mouse click select properties select the printing preferences button select the color tab check the greyscale box the below that select the print in black ink only. I know this works because I just set it up for a customer yesterday. Good Luck, Tim
