is it a clunking when you drive? probably the U-Joint, I have had to replace mine that was worn, and my drive shaft was going clunk everytime I would ease off the clutch and onto the throttle
The humming sound is coming from the drive motor running but unable to drive the agitator nor the basket to spin. The drive motor is definitely running as the drain function works because of the fact that drain pump is directly coupled with the rear spline of the motor. The drain pump works in either direction as long as the motor runs. The problem is obviously a broken motor coupler which transfers the mechanical energy of the motor to the transmission. The solution then is to replace the broken coupler. Click on the link below for the detailed step-by-step procedure in replacing the motor coupler.
Yes and no, if there was something that caused the sound to stop was in the tower, then something could have come loose. there is a cable that goes from the drive to the sound board. make sure this is connected. If you are unable to even read data on the drive then you have something else going on.
The best thing you can do is back up all your important data to an external USB drive and reinstall Windows (I assume you're not running Linux). There may be a recovery program and partition included with the PC if it is relatively new, and that will make the process much easier. That should fix the problem.
go to main screen panel, then go to speaker icon, right click, go to properties, make sure headphones are enabled, volume is turned up, and see if the headphones are set as default. Update drivers if necessary

A clicking hard drive is a dying hard drive. Stop using it immediately. Replace it, then use a SATA to USB or IDE to USB adapter to try to copy off any data you might have that is still salvageable. The more you try to use it, the less chance you have of recovering information.
You can’t install DG31PRI board sound driver automatically it install manually Go to cd room drive right click and open your main board driver cd Then find sound driver then install sound driver manually. Click twice then Next –next-finish.
First check the LaCie power supply. I have a D2 HARD DISK EXTREME 250GB model 300770 that had this exact problem. I swapped out the power supply for the higher wattage unit from LaCie and presto, the drive functioned properly. Not saying this will fix your problem but I have personally had this exact problem. If not take the drive and mount it in a PC IDE/EIDE disk slot and see if you can mount the drive and recover your data (points to LaCie controller problem). Note opening the drive invalidates your LaCie warranty. Also note the warranty on my drive was one years and had long since passed. If that does not work, your last alternative it to use a disk data recovery service but that is big $$$$s. Bon Chance!
