Question about Intermatic Malibu 300W Power Pack Transformer ML300RTW

1 Answer

I just bought all new lights (5) for my Malibu ML300 RTW. This has been working great for the last 3-4 years. I ran new wire and cannot get these lights to work. I can hear the transformer humming, so I know it's on. I have just connected 2 lights so far,..no luck

Be sure that the wire is connected to terminals "A" and "B". The "C" terminal is not used. Sometimes you have to squeeze the connectors on the lights pretty hard to get them to make good contact. Also, try connecting one of the old lights just to see if it works.

H ow to replace timer with phot0 cell

Malibu ML300 has 120 volt input and 12 volt AC output
They make a photo eye for the timer... wiring is changed a bit... will work on ML300 if timer has A-B-C wiring terminals
http://waterheatertimer.org/Malibu-power-pack-stopped-working.html#wire

You can use a 120 -> 12 volt ac transformer that is rated for 300 watts... and connect in-line photoeye on the 120 volt side.

I had a Malibu ML150 power pack that quit, I need to attack a malibu 300 to the light wires. One is push one connection, the new one has screw clips. Do I cut the old push on connectors off?

Cut em off. Attach wires to A and B terminals on ML300.
Do not plug in power pack until all lights are wired.
Read the product manual.

Loud huming from my 300v low voltage lighting transformer

Transformers make humming sound.
ML300 series transformers make sound.
Used styrafoam to separate transformer from contact with building so sound is not carried.
These transformers have 10 year limited warranty.

I recently purchased a "new"

No solution if timer is busted.
Model ML300 has 3 terminals A B C.
Terminals A and B should test 12 volts.
Terminal C is not used except for photo-eye, and shows no volts.
If transformer is humming, it should be producing voltage, but a wire might be loose.
As general rule, these timers are not made for dis-assembly and repair, so finding and repairing loose wire is something you can try to fix, then add a comment and say what you did.

I just bought a new Malibu Landscape Lighting 200 watt Transformer ML200RT and have 8 10-watt halogen new light fixtures hooked up to it. It worked for 4 days and all the lights went out. I have 11 feet of...

working with those outdoors transformer I have ran into couple would short the unit out by installing it wrong or exposing to lots of waters/moister. Again, it could also be a factory fault unit, some products will only last only few days before it blow out. It happen and most of those unit have 5 years warranty on them. I would take it back and get another and if it happens again than you may not installing it correctly or installing too close exposing to lots of moister and may short the unit out. I don't recommend trying to fix it still having warranty on them, get a replacement and start over. good luck and i hope that help some
