Question about HP Compaq nc4400 1.83GHz Core 2 DUO T5600 1GB 60GB 56K 10100/WIRELESS 12.1" XGA LCD Windows Xp Pro PC Notebook

1 Answer

It is hp nc4400 (tablet) with t7200 intel. I changed OS to WIn 7 ultimate. Recently battery stopped charging: it show 3-4 times that it is charging but than stop charging (even though the message says "charging"). If battery is charged, it hold the charge for 2-3 hrs. This chimeric charging behavior is the same regardless whether I charge through a direct cord or through a port replicator. Power light changes form green to orange or there is o light at all. Laptop works fine on AC-- except of charging. It is a battery or a contact between battery is a power board. Power jack seems to be fine because it works on AC....

Tablet cont start

It can be due to following reason

1) Virus issues
2) less free space
3) Android/Windows OS issues
3) Due to recent software installation
4) Hardware issues

Try resetting the device, if there is option for pin hole reset

If you battery is removable try removing it and charge it fully for 2-3 hours, or try operating it with charger on (may be battery issue)

If you able to switch it on, do a software reset or remove all recently installed application and free some space in memory

Battery not charging, how to I reset it?

If thelaptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

I dont remember power on password for hp nc4400

The power-on password prevents use of the computer until the password is entered. The
setup password prevents unauthorized changes to Computer Setup. To clear the
passwords, you must remove all power from the system board. If you do not know the
passwords, use the following procedure to clear the password:
1. Remove all battery packs.
2. Disconnect the AC power.
3. Remove the real-time clock battery.
4. Wait thirty minutes.
5. Reconnect the AC power. DO NOT INSTALL THE BATTERY!
6. Restart the computer. During Power-On Self Test (POST), a ? 162 System Options
not set? message appears.
7. Shut down the computer, then disconnect AC power again.
8. Replace the real-time clock battery.
9. Install the battery pack(s).
10. Reconnect the AC power.
11. Start the computer.
12.It should work....

If you are sure your charger is good check the Compaq site for updates for your computer. Vista had lots of problems, I would suggest updating to at least win 7 pro if it's an option.
