Broken thread spindle


drill a hole into the center of the broken spindle, use a tap (from a tap and die set) and get the broken bit out. Buy a new spindle and put it in.

On a 1995 f-150 4wd, does the caliper anchor bracket bolt on to the spindle, or is it on peice? I have a bolt broken off in the brake caliper and wondering if I can change the bracket, or have to dril


brka calipers are bolted on to the anchor point because you have to remove them to get the disc off. Normally you can remove the bolts and lift the caliper off the disc. If the broken bolt is in this part the next step is to place a hose clam on the brake line to stop fluid leaking out when you remove the caliper for repair. Drill out and use an ezi out tool . Remember that replacement bolts have to be grade 8 quality by law.If the broken bit is in the anchor point simply push the caliper out of the way and drill . The bolt still has to be Grade 8 quality

Yes, most spindles come with non threaded holes. The metal is soft and you can just use regular bolts. Once you start them, they cut their own threads.

if it is broken flush you must drill out center of bolt and use ez out or bolt extractor. may want to soak with penetrant or heat bolt before using extractor,if it wont come out you will have to drill out to size of bolt and re thread ,last option replace spindle . hope this helps

Sounds like the IWE ( Integrated Wheel End ).

One of the lines is the vent line, routed into the engine compartment and is not connected to anything, the other runs to the IWE solenoid.

This is a block diagram of the IWE vacuum system

From your problem, I am not sure if the line is broken or the vacuum & vent mount on the IWE itself.

How do you replace the front rotors on a 1996 honda accord?


Remove wheel. Take off outer driveshaft nut. Remove lower ball joint pinch bolt & separate ball joint from spindle. Pull rotor & spindle out & away to pull driveshaft outer splined end out of rotor center hub. Look on the back of the spindle for the 4 bolts that hold in the wheel bearing. Use a 12 point socket to remove the 4 bolts and remove wheel bearing from spindle (out towards the wheel stud side). Probably will have to use a air chisel to get it out. Once it's out undo the 4 bolts on the outer (wheel stud side) of the rotor and remove the rotor from the hub. Clean & lube the hole where the bearing was in the spindle & the inner face of the hub. MAKE SURE IT'S CLEAN otherwise you may get a pulsation on braking if theres a piece of rust or dirt between the rotor center & the hub face. Reverse procedure to install.

If the rear bolts don't come out then you will have to use a slide hammer to separate the bearing to replace the rotor and there is a very good chance you will need to replace the wheel bearing after you're done (noisy on road test).


Not the job to do at home, usually an easy 2-3 hours per side if things go bad (book time is 2.2 hrs per side). Use good quality rotors as you don't want to have to do it again because a cheap rotor gave you a pulsation.

Rear tire lug bolts


You have to remove the tire/wheel assy. remove the brake drum, you will see the spindle with the bolts there. punch out the broken bolts install new buy pushing thru the hole.Find some regular nuts that will fit over the stud, put your new nuts on and tighten up till flush in back.

Remove the spindle from the machine itself before you change the sanding sleeve. There should be a flat section on the bottom of each spindle that you can hook a wrench on to hold it while you undo the top bolt.

Broken Lug Studs


You have to remove the hub to remove the bolts, if they won't come out by rotating the hub.

To remove the hub, take the cap off at the center of the hub (the cap would be poking you a the center of the hub, and is about 2 inches in diameter.

There should be a cotter key or something preventing the spindle nut from turning. Remove it. If there is a cover over the spindle nut, remove it. Take the spindle nut off. Pull lightly on the hub, and it will come off. Watch for the front bearing to pop out.

To reassemble, put hub back on spindle, put bearing and washer against bearing, thread on spindle nut and tighten while rotating hub. Back off 1/2 to 1 flat add cover (if used) and install cotter key.
