Monitor Flicker for awhile and then settles down

The problem is in the power supply/inverter board, this is usually caused by bad capacitors that in most cases have slight bulge at the top causing it to flicker and eventually shutdown. The only option is have them replaced.

My 3 yr old Samsung 226bw strobes when switched on

colinfaver, I think a visit to YOUTUBE and conduct a search for longer vid clips of "lcd monitor disassembly" and "lcd monitor repair" for monitors that suffer from the "black screen of death" syndrome and what internal electronic components fail and how to visually locate them on a "switch-mode-power-supply" and possibly replace them with new good ones and with a little luck end up with a working monitor. Your 226BW is SICK, and will probably do same if connected to a different PC with same ambient room temperature. Yes, problem with SMPS/CCFL inverter supply getting a bit tired!! If this was of help to you, please rate on fixya, and do return comment. 12fixlouie Bye for now.

Samsung 226bw visible flickers just after it is turned on

You may have a faulty inverter or loose power inverter connection. OR
You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Samsung syncmaster 226BW no backlight

Look for any bulging capacitors, instead of a flat top they will look "pregnant".

If you see any of those then replace them with capacitors of the same UF rating and the voltage needs to be either the same or higher.

If you dont see any bulging capacitors or burnt parts, then its got be the LCD at that point thats not staying on and the cost to replace the LCD is as much if not more then to just get another monitor.

Flicker, even when no signal cable

Hello,

You have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htmYou can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictues and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and -connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Samsung 226BW 22" LCD wont turn on and flickers a blue light

Hello cstafford35,

Your monitor has a very common problem. The internal power supply has blown a part called a capacitor. If you are comfortable working with electronics and with soldering I can talk you thru the diag/repair. If you are not ready to tackle that we also offer a repair service, about $30 plus shipping for your model. Let me know if you want to try fixing it yourself and we can go from there. The repair will require opening the monitor case and replacing from 2 - 5 parts. You can call me at 318-447-9040 if you have questions.

Movie on monitor

Hi, Normally I would suggest that you first lower your laptop's screen resolution, refresh rate and color quality and verify that you have enabled the external monitor or dual view in your Display Property Settings as well as the Fn key + F?. However, this kind of problem should not exist with an LCD Widescreen monitor with specs and features as your Samsung 226BW. If trying the reco on the first paragraph and you still have no movie display (but all other laptop display shows), perhaps it is a problem with the Samsung 226BW. To my knowledge, this particular brand/model uses no less than 3 different panel display, some not as good as the others. Verify that you have an original Samsung panel display in your Samsung monitor by looking at the sticker at the back of the screen, it should say Model: 226BW [R] S. If it says A or even a C, then perhaps the display panel is not living to its specs/claimed capacities. You of course can request a replacement from your dealer and cite your problem but insist that it be an "S". Most instances (but not always) an "S" would mean panel screen by Samsung, "A" by AU Optronics and "C" by CMO. Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
