F1 error on Dishdrawer - Fisher and Paykel 23 in. DD-603SS Built-in Dishwasher

Hum... this is the dishdrawer by Paykel Fisher. There is no "lid" and/or where are the actuators? Reading elsewhere people suggest as a result of my hard water to replace the hoses...Suggestions?

  • dave937 Sep 05, 2010

also, there is nothing in the two drawers right now.

  • dave937 Sep 05, 2010

Please assume I know nothing. Although I am the son of a plumber and certified engineer. Or should be certified.

FYI...I installed this dishwasher myself about 3 years ago. We have hard water and there is a build up of calcium under the strainer. Usually I run a calcium remover but haven't in a little while.

I drained about 2 cups of water from the drain pan. Still get F1. So I uncovered the place where the electronic board is and put a fan on it. I don't know where the water sensor is but I suspect once it dries out the F1 will go away?

Then I'll run one drawer at a time with the calcium/lime remover.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa.
F1 error means that the flood switch has been activated. You’ll need to reset it by powering off the breaker or by unplugging the unit from the power socket and mains for more than five minutes. Please check that there is no blockage in the drain hose and it is not raised higher otherwise the water will run back to the dishwasher. Also perform the following procedure---

    • Unplug power and remove bottom dish drawer
    • Use a Sponge and dry all the excess water underneath
    • Remove circuit board cover
    • Dry all around and underneath as much as possible
    • Apply hairdryer for 10-15min

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Hi,

Unless you keep using the wrong detergent or keep putting dishes that are to tall in there. i would have to say your actuators are bad and its not letting the lid go down to seal it all the time.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

Before you check on actuator on this model, quick read the below mentioned :-

F1 means there is water in the base pan under the bottom drawer. You need to pull the bottom drawer forward and there are 2 square push tabs just behind the front panel near the bottom on the right and left side. Push on on these tabs and you can pull the drawer out further so that you can get behind the drawer and soak up the water in the base pan. When all the water out of the base pan, the F1 error will not return after you press cancel.

I thought you have done the basic troubleshooting :(

Follow the above and let me know unless we could always go on checking actuator.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

F1 Error code

F1 is flood error. basically water has arrived at the bottom board. you can unplug the dishdrawer, remove the bottom drawer and dry the board at the bottom, maybe with a hair dryer carefully. this will reset the fault, but this is a fault that may appear again. replace the actuators that close the lid of the drawer that is leaking (look for signs of water running our of one of the drawers).

How do I reset the f1 flood button . Dd603ss

Not sure if you have managed to fix the F1 problem with your dishdrawer. This is a common problem and occurs mainly due to water leaking into the base of the dishdrawer under the bottom drawer.
But if it is occuring only in one drawer then the power filter at the base of dishdrawer is faulty and needs replacement.

Otherwise make sure the mains power to dishdrawer is turned off. Pull out the bottom drawer and stack in some towels behind it if you can to remove the moisture sitting on the base. The flood switch is located there. Then take a hair dryer and run it down behind the drawer to dry things. Push drawer back and turn power back on. Now if you cannot reach the back of the drawer then you will have to pull the drawer out from its rail. Refer the installation manual for this. See link page 7.

Errors and restarts

will need a description of the problem. Some of the common fault codes are F1, F2 and F3.
All these fault codes stop the dishwasher and will not go away until the cause is removed. Please indicate the problem you are experiencing.

Our F & P dishdrawer keeps coming up with f1 and a picture of a spanner have tried turning the machine of at the switch for 24hr but is still doing it

Water has collected at the base of the dishwasher under the drawer.
This triggers a flood switch and causes the F1 error.

Turn the mains power off and extend the drawer out as much as possible. Take towels to dry the base from inside. Also use hair dryer ot dry out the flood switch mounted at the base.

Turn the power on and see if there is any difference. The cause of water collection could be many. Foam in detergent or kink in drain hose or drawer door gasket leaking etc.
