Right click on the tv then select Properties, select Settings, click on Identify and the number corresponding to your laptop's screen - in there make sure the "Use as primary desktop" option is ticked. Click on  the second one and in there make sure that the "Use as primary desktop" is unticked, the "Extend " option is ticked and the resolution is set to the default one of the projector. Click Apply, Accept the settings and that's all.

Try reseating the video cable and ensure the cable is chafed where is passes thru the hinge assembly. If no change, then the LCD will likely need replacement

New inverter in Dell Inspiron 1501 now the LCD screen gets hot!

I've had the same problem with a Dell Lattitude D531. I've been told that it's the screen itself (which may have led to the original inverter going bad) but that one should also check to make sure none of the screws are making contact with any wires back there.

My epson LCD only shows a blue NO SIGNAL screen???

you just need to enable the 2nd monitor in display properties, right click on desktop and select properties then settings and right click on the 2nd display select attach.

or look at the keyboard press FN and look at the F1/f12 keys, one of them will turn the external display on or swap between outputs.

Dell Inspiron 1501 LCD flashing colors, works fine on external

Have you updated the video driver?

If yes but problem persist I suspected it's your LCD screen is faulty and needs to be replace.

If your machine is under warrantly no need to pay any fee for the replacement of the part.

Have you hooked it up to an external monitor? If you can see windows booting up on the external monitor then u may have a bad lcd screen or inverter or video card? Still lots of questions to ask.

My daughter's Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop screen has gone almost blank. When I open the laptop I momentarily get to see the screen as it should be. I have tried the 'fn' & 'up arrow' keys without success....

this sounds like a loose conection to the lcd inverter or the lcd cable to the motherboard. it can be repaired. how are you at taking things apart?

Dell Laptop E1705 Screen goes Blank

If your video output works fine when connected to an external monitor, then the issue is with the LCD display panel. I’m afraid the only way to fix this is have the LCD panel replaced. The ribbon cable that plugs the LCD panel into the motherboard could also be the culprit. Here's a link to the display assembly for 1501: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1501/en/sm_en/display.htm#wp1022270
