SOURCE: I have a Lincoln 140 mig welder. It welds and cuts

Usually this is caused by a bad liner in the mig gun hose, or worn out guide rolls in the drive unit, or if this is not the case the speed of the wire might be set to high as this would force the wire into the weld causing the motor to heat up from resistance and shut it down on safty. Hope This Helps Don

SOURCE: my welder no longer produces high quality welds

You could have a poor ground clamp connection. Check that. also increasing the gas flow will cause turbulence at the weld, this can have a negative effect on weld quality.
Check your connections, check your liner, actually, replace it if you haven't recently.

I was welding and it quit feeding the wire now I don't hear relay clicker nothing when I pull the triggerwhat could be wrong

first thing to check is the over load reset button as all welders have a duty cycle for welding if that period is exceeded , the machine shuts down until it is cooled down
the duty cycle is the time of welding allowed in relation to the amps required to weld
for example with a 200 amp welder set at 200 amps with a 20% duty cycle for every 20 minutes of welding you have to allow 80 minutes to cool down
if however you have a 200 amp welder with a 20%duty cycle but it is welding at 20 amps then the duty cycle is extended dramatically other than that check for a fuse or take it in for a service

Suggested setting for rossi mt 200 welder

read you hand book on the settings but it all depends on material thickness being welded
higher volts = higher amps will require faster feed speeds = thicker materials
sheet metal thickness (.040"-1mm) will require very low volts -up to 20 v with a slower feed speed
remember the unit will have a very short duty cycle and that means that you cannot start a weld and keep it going for many minutes especially at high amps
it works like this ,if it is a 20% duty cycle ( on the plate of the machine then for every 20 seconds of power ( high amps) the machine has to rest for 80 seconds
if you are welding panel metal the ( very low amps) then you can weld for longer periods but the rest period has to be 4 times the weld period

Fire power 160 heat range will not go low enough to weld thin material.

You need a smaller welder. Pick up a nice 110 unit that has at least 4 power settings. I have a lincoln 95 amp that will weld body panels on low and 1/2" on high.

My AC225c welder will start a 7018(new) rod at the proper setting but then quit. Acts like setting is too low but no matter how I run up the setting nothing changes. All 6011,6014 rods weld perfect. Do I...

JAMES B,

FIRST OF ALL THE 7018 WELDING ROD IS REALLY A DC REVERSE POLARITY ROD. IN THE PAST 7-10 YEARS AGO 7018 AC/DC RODS HIT THE MARKET. THEY WELD LIKE ****! YOU DID'NT SAY WHAT DIAMETER YOUR USING,BUT THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN USE THESE RODS IS TO HAVE A BIGGER MACHINE. THE AC225 JUST DOES'NT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO WELD IN THE AC MODE. WELDING WITH THIS ROD IN DC REV. IS ABOUT 150 AMPS FOR 1/8 DIA.AND ABOUT 110-120 AMPS FOR3/32 DIA. THIS ALSO DEPENDS ON THE BRAND OF MACHINE YOU HAVE. THE 6011-6014 RODS ARE MADE AC -DC,AND YES THEY RUN VERY NICE ON AC. HOPE THIS HELPS EWE OUT,I WAS A WELDER/FAB FOR 35 YEARS AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE! GOD BLESS AND GOD BYE.

My lincoln 140 welds fine on a low setting but when im welding on a high setting the spark starts out strong but seems to fizzle down and it does not burn in good. Please help MIKE

You may be exceding the duty cycle of your welder
Check your operstors manual to see how long you can weld at higher amps before giving the welder a chance to cool down

I have welded countless hours with Linde & Lincoln & even a few Hobarts & the only time that I ever had the same problem was when the ground connection either to the object I was welding, or the welding cable ground wasn't good & clean & tight. Same on stick welders also. I did develop the habit of grinding not only where I was preparing to weld, but where I was placing my ground clamp & that always provided a better "frying bacon" sound as I went along the business of pushing a bead. In a welder, the only other thing than that is involved is the step-up transformer and your wire. Hope this helps.

I dont know what kind of metals this wire type can do, it says fire power 1440 u235 flux wire, but not sure what kinds of aluminums or steels it can weld. Im a certifed MIG aluminum welder, but this is a...

Usually a flux core only welds steel. It is a higher penetration weld than a MIG. Usually it acts similar to 6011 rods in SMA (Shielded Metal Arc) welding -- a.k.a. stick welding -- if you're familiar with that. I don't believe there is such a thing as flux wire for aluminum. There may be stainless wire for it, but I've never seen it. It probably could also be used for building up cast iron and cast steel, but nothing structural. I have a Chicago Electric one and I love it -- simple and it penetrates hard. My 90 amp will weld to 3/8" without breaking a sweat and if I baby it will go to 1/2" or better. It is difficult to go much lower than 12 or 14 gauge though due to the high penetration.
