Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a samsung flat screen (not flat panel) HDTV type # CR32z30; which will automatically shut off after about an hour or so of operation, and stay off for some time. It seems to be influenced by heat or temperature.

Check the B+ voltage, it should be 145V. If it is higher (mine was 162V) then R818 (140k) has increased in value. That resistor has 140V across it and is part of the 145V supply feedback.
    The 145V feedback is a simple divider to a TL431 and opto-coupler.

I'm not sure of a jumper wire to cut, but one of the first things is to clean out the dust that has accumulated on the electronics. You can blow out the back with compressed air or disassemble the TV case and dust it. Sometimes a layer of dust can cause excessive heat to build and shut off any type of overload circuit. Good luck!

Can not get tv to turn on

It's normally a power failure/surge on the main board. Most common with LG tv's of this type. Samsung tv's of this type don't actually turn off, they only go on standby, which is why you can turn the Blue Eye off in the menu. One solution to try (if you haven't already), is to disconnect it from the mains (this is also the only way of actually turning the tv off), leave it for 24 hours, and try again.
