6110- Faint Printing in same spot all the time

New toner, however in the same area everytime it barely prints at all. Can't even read.
I would say low hours/printing on this unit. It is for my home/office 10,000 would be about 5k too many. Printer cost $200 - do I throw it away?

Dear colt,
well the prints cycle is depends on documents print quality , well you can increase the duty cycle by the economy mode printing ,coz this mode use lower ink then other modes, so please check the print quality on your Phaser6110 properties.

If you are using a new toner and still you get a low and dim printout then its the Laser unit which has not gone bad but the dust has accumulated the lens inside which prevents the laser gun to shoot image on the toner cartridge photosynthetic drum in which it has resulted to a dim print or no print. if you are tech savvy then you will be able to do your self or get it fixed by any technician as i have told.

The target would be open the printer and take out the black colored laser unit from inside open it and all you need is a lint free cloth to clean the dust layer over the glasses and the lens inside dont worry they are all fixed and cannot be dealligned so feel free to open the unit and make sure u connect all the cable connector back while closing the cover and do this with the power cable unplugged.

NOTE : make sure you disconnect the power cable when you open the printer.

There has to be a mistake here, 15 000 pages doesnt sound that good after all.

    xerox says

Robust design that is built to last with a monthly duty cycle of up to 24,200 prints

  • Ekse May 12, 2008

15 000 hours is that what you ment?

  • Ekse May 12, 2008

Have you tryed to clean the printer? instructions on cleaning it are on the manual page 5.7

and here you can get the manual

    http://download.support.xerox.com/pub/do...

    pdf reader required

also check pages 6.5 and forward there is information on print quality problems.

The printer has only done about 500 prints. Black print is very faint in areas - it streaks. Changed toner - no change. Looked at green roll inside - can not see any dirt. Suggestions. How can I...

Hi, The faint print in a laser printer can be caused by several things. If the contrast is set too low or the toner level in the cartridge is low, empty or poorly distributed, print quality can appear washed out. Correcting this is easy. Adjust the contrast remove the toner cartridge, inspect it, shake it gently(if in a sealed unit) and retry it. if it doesnt improve try a new cartridge. Other causes of this problem maybe a weakened corona wire, a weakened high-voltage power supply that drives it. Replace the unit that drives the corona wire. Replace the high voltage power supply(get a pro to do this as this can be hazardous). Make sure the latent high voltages have been drained off the power supply before working with it
Goodluck

When copying or printing, there is a whitish strip down the center where the rollers are. Print in this area is very faint. Thank you for any advice.

Remove the toner cartridge and while keeping relatively level, shake it from side to side. Re-install and try a test print. If the light band has gone away then problem solved. It does mean that your toner crtridge is probably starting to get low on toner. 90% of the time, print quality issues on HP lasers are toner cartridge related.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Why do my images rub off the copy easily? I have a brother mfc-8860dn and I have the same problem. I notice that on bond paper (envelopes and letters I mail out) when they come back all the toner is...

This machine truly isn't designed for printing very high volumes of heavier bonds/envelopes. I think what you will notice is if you only print a few sheets at a time that the toner will be better fused than if you print many sheets.( you can check /test yourslef) The heavier bonds will quickly and dramatically reduce the temperature of the fuser and it can't recover on long runs of heavy paper.
Low temperature= poor fusing

Printing too lightly

Is the paper hot when you take it off the printer? The reason I am asking is, there is a part called a fuser, its the last process in the printing cycle. The fuser gets to almost 300 degrees to melt the toner onto the paper. If the fuser is not working correctly then the paper will be room temp and their will be no print.

OfficeJet G85 Makes Unreadable Copies

Usually, it's the print cartridge. I recently installed a new black cartridge on a 6110 printer and it, too, was very faint in printing. It turned out to be "dried up", even though it was a new cartridge in a sealed bag (but purchased in 2005).

Printing is faded and too light

more important than all that nonsense is:
is it faint when you do an internal report or make a copy?
if only on copies it is the film on the underside of the glass.
if on prints and copies it is the drum.

My printer won't print multiple pages

The Toner is running low. What is happening is you are low on toner in the MIDDLE of the Cartiridge. Take the cartridge out and jently shake it left to right (be careful you dont make a mess) this will distribute the toner evenly. time to buy a spare as this wont last much longer.
