Question about Kenwood Excelon KVT815DVD Car DVD Player

Wiring i have a kenwood excelon kvt815 dvd and i have five additional wires that have nothing to connect to the orange which is alumination that gets capped of i know of that is on the car and the red on the car where does that go? then on the deck one there is brown -orange and pink one where do these go? call me and let me know 262 302 9280

Yes orange is illumination cap off both they can cause some problems on some cars red is your acc. or switch to ign. brown is mute cap it off pink is your reverse cam hook up if your not running one cap it off you radio is probably not working because your red wire needs power when the car is on

Splicing the wiring from a kenwood excelon kdc-x589 unit to a jeep harness


Hi,

For the Kenwood KDC-X589:
yellow - always on B+12 such as battery + terminal
red - switched B+12 such as ACC of IGN switch
black - body/chassis ground (- battery)
orange/white - dimmer control wire (car light control switch)
gold - to my knowldege no gold
brown - mute control from mobile phone
pink/blk - external amplifier control/trigger wire
blue/white - power control wire similar in function as the orange/white
blue/blk - to my knowldege no blue/blk
blue - motorized/power antenna

For the vehicle, pls postback info on year and make/model.

Wiring


The brown wire, according to the installation manual, is the "Mute Wire". Their instruction is:
"Connect to the terminal that is grounded when either the telephone rings or during conversation."

So this appears to only be necessary if you are also using a mobile phone with your system.

The orange/white wire is the "dimmer control" lead, which should be wired into the switch that turns your car lights on and off. This will probably allow your head unit to dim when you turn the car lights on (night time).
