Question about Hitachi 53UDX10B 53" Rear Projection Television
You need to open set (unplugged) and look for the chips, they should as you look from the back be towards the right side on metal heat sinks with fins----typical for this model is STK-392-150 and set uses 2 of them.
Examine resistors in front--see attached photos- to make sure none are burnt or discolored in the middle.
A photo of the chassis from the rear would tell me the best way for you to get at them----most of these sets you can free and lift the board they are on up so you can un-solder and remove them.
Best place for the parts is on EBAY---I know a seller there I use and you can also find his online company catalog---SUBURBAN ELECTRONICS, in Maryland--fast shipper and good parts.
Total parts cost should be under 25 dollars and if handy a do it yourself job.
Let me know with a very helpful rating and we can continue.

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.
The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.
To get fixed either call in a local TV repair company or goto sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com to get a repair kit with instructions.
