Hi,

I hate to comment that you are almost at loss. This is a common problem with this PS3 and more often, you need to send the console for repair / replacement. However, there are certain steps you could take to see if that helps. As i said, these are hit and trial methods and does not guarantee a fix. There is a small guide that helped many people to Fix this problem. Look at :-

http://www.ehow.com/how_5909868_fix-hard-drive-disk-corrupt.html

Unless, try formatting your hard drive but all your data would be removed unless you backed it up.

It seems that you either have:
1) a failed hard drive
2) the game locked up and by chance corrupted the file system

#1 means you need to get the hard drive replaced (via warranty) or purchase one yourself, preferably an upgrade to 500 gig ($89 at Best Buy).
#2 means that you can simply reformat the hard drive

More often, you need to replace the hard drive or send the unit for repair, however few days ago when i was helping one of my clients with the same problem, one small trick worked for him.

If you want to try to save it try these steps:

1) remove drive, use a can of compressed air and clean it out good. re-insert and start ps3

2) The error will come up again.

3) Now remove the hard drive and start the recovery process.

4) This time a message should appear asking you if you want to re-format the drive. Answer yes both times

5) Insert the drive and let it format. Drive should now be working.

These are the only few solutions you could try and see if that helps.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

If you are getting the corrupted drive message this means that you have corrupted data on the hard drive or there is something wrong with the hard drive. If you have tried the built in repair options and they do not work then you will need to format the hard drive with an externally with a computer. The link below will help you do this.

Hard disk file is corrupted,it restored itself but it still wont play any games, the screen is blank .

I would recommend backing up all your info onto a portable hardrive or Memory USB before trying this.

When in Settings go to >System Settings>Restore to default settings.

That will reset everything backto when you first turned on your PS3 , you will lose Sign-In info if you have it set as Automatically so keep that in mind , and you will also lose all your updates. So as soon as its reset you will have to download the newest update.

My PS3's hard disk file system is corrupted

There is an alternate way to restore your HDD. Turn off your system and when u see the red light, hold the power button in front until you hear a total of 4 beeps (1 alone, 1 alone, 2 together). It usually works on second try. it should show a screen and say hook up controller with a usb cord. Then it should show i think 6 options. Choose the restore option. it should work.

Hope it works and wish you all the best!
P.S.- I just got the 80010514 error on my ps3 and my ps3 games dont work anymore :(
