Question about Cameras
There is a focusing ring inside the lens, and when it gets dust, lint, dirt, etc. on it, it can jam. You can try spraying some compressed air ($4 at Walmart) into the lens assembly, to try to loosen it. There's probably the same thing happening with the gears on the zoom.
