Removing write protection from Flash pen drive

Running Win2KPro, when trying to copy files to a Memorex Flashdrive 303B USB device I get the Error Message that the disk is write protected and transfer of files is prohibited until the removal of the write protection from the disk. How is that done exactly?

I saved photos to my PNY flash drive that was protected on my camera from deletion would that be the cause of my flash drive saying it is write protected? If so how can I remove the write-protection so I can add more data or delete old data?

Try this

1) In My Computer, right click on the drive letter of your pendrive and
2) Eject it.
3) Then pull the card out and stick it back in.
4) Try to write to the card. If it works, GREAT!
5) If it DIDN'T work, repeat steps 1 through 4.

To disable writing access to USB drives and make all USB drives has only read-only access, follow these steps:

  2. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
  3. Create a New Key named as StorageDevicePolicies.

The disk is write protected.
The media is write-protected.
Remove the write protection or use another disk.
usb-removable-disk-write-protected.jpg To revert and remove the blocked write access to USB drivers, just delete the StorageDevicePolicies registry key, or delete the WriteProtect registry entry, or change the value data for WriteProtect to 0.
For user who doesn't want to manually editing the registry, simply download the following registry registration files to enable or disable the write protection (block writing attempt) to USB removable drive. Double click the .reg file unpacked from the .zip archive to merge the registry key entries.

My Memorex USB flash drive is write protected

t seems that your flash drive has some bad sectors since normally that's the error message you get when that happens, try to format your drive under disk management.
Note: your files will be erased if you format your flash drive.
If formatting your flash drive does not solve your problem I will advise you to contact Memorex technical support for better assistance, you can contact them at 1-877-363-6673

Error message

I had the same problem with a USB drive and a SD card. Both were only recieving 170 files to the root folder before I got this error. The solution was to reformat each using using 'FAT32' as the file system. This basically is a more modern file system that allows more files and cam about after win95. It looks like some USB drives and SD card are origninally formted with basic 'FAT'.

To reformat right click on the drive in windows explorer and select 'Format...'.

Another option if you dont need all the files in the root flder is to create a subfolder however this was not an option for me as my digital photo frame would not handle this.
