Question about George Foreman GRP99 Indoor Grill

1 Answer

Grill won't heat up

I've had my GRP99 for two years and love it, but recently, it's been acting up. Sometimes, it won't heat up at all. Other times, it'll heat up, but the temperature will drop dramatically after I put the food on it to the point where I can put my hand on the grill. Most of the time, it works fine, but when it acts up, I have to unplug it and start all over again, sometimes two or three times. I paid $100 for this thing and it should last well over two years. Any advice.

I have a GGR5oB and I have had it for about a year now. It worked great last summer when I would take out to use. I took it out of storeage this last week to use and it doesnt' work. It looks like the plug is not making a connection to the grill it self. Now for something that hasn't been used since last year and should stop working tells me it is POOR workamn ship.

I have a George Foreman Grill Model GRP99 Series. When I plug it in the panel does not light up. It appears to be heating. I can not tell how hot it gets because the panel is not lite.

the indicator light doesn't have anything to do with how hot the grille gets, that is preset by an internal thermostat and the light just comes on when that temperature is reached, more than likely the miniature neon bulb that light is burnt out, any appliance repair shop can replace this bulb for you

GRP99

Everything you described is normal, except not heating up.
When you first plug it in, you will see 'dashes' that tell you it is getting power.
When you press the Power Button, the grill will start at the Default Temp of 300F and the Timer starts at 5 minutes. You now change the temp to what you want.
It takes 5 minutes to get your grill to your tempreature, so the timer should 'count-down' as the grill heats up.
As for not heating up, I think you will need to get that 'looked at' for repairs.

Unfortunately it sounds like your control board has fried. Also unfortunately the warranty is only for a year, however control board replacement should be easy and cheap enough - contact these guys for details; http://www.esalton.com/control/contactus The only reset is to unplug and plug back in again. Hope this helps :)
