Question about Toshiba 50A61 50" Rear Projection Television
The pop was the sound made by an electrolytic capacitor exploding. Yes, the tv is fixable, all depends on what other parts were damaged when the capacitor failed the big way. Worst case scenario - the entire power board will gonna have to be replaced: $350 board and labor. But on a tv this old all the other components have aged so it might be just the first one of an long line of failures.
If you have the money, just get a new, better tv, it will be cheaper in the long run.
