Help I've just installed the wireless G router - it said I had completed successfully but then I tried to use my laptop and connect to the internet and I kept getting a message saying I was not connected and that I was working offline.

What type of internet do you have: DSL, Cable, etc? First we need to make sure you have a good connection to the router. Type in your router's IP address into your browser's address bar (normally 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.1, but you can find it by clicking Start->Run, typing in "cmd" without quotes and pressing OK, typing "ipconfig" also without the quotes, and when you press Enter you want the number next to Default Gateway.) If you get a Belkin configuration screen by going to this IP address then you are connected to the router. Please list what information you see here, such as if the router says it's Connected to the Internet.

If you can't connect to the router then it's most likely not the router's fault. Try connecting with an ethernet cable to see if you can connect that way. Then you can try moving on to the wireless. Please post back with your results.

One solution might be to go into the file menu of Internet Explorer and de-selecting "work offline".

Can not use Internet with new Linksys rangeplus wireless router

Okay chances are your 2wire's ip address is conflicting with your router's ip address. Set up your router to use 192.168.2.1. Save the settings then everything should work for you.

Iam trying to connect my laptop to the innet. i have wrt54g router.

Hi jjroyc

Let's see if we can get your laptop connected to the Internet.

First, I have some questions and a few instructions for you.

(01) Is this a new (to you) router?

(02) Do you already have one or more computers connecting successfully to the Internet using this router?

(03) If yes, are any of them connecting wirelessly?

(04) Have you recently (at another location for example) successfully connected this laptop to the Internet? If so, did you connect it "wired" or "wirelessly".

(05) Are you trying to connect your laptop to your router "wirelessly" or "wired"?

(06) If you are trying to connect the laptop wirelessly, turn off your laptop's wireless radio and connect the laptop to the router "wired" instead (using an "Ethernet Patch Cable"). Once we've established that the laptop is capable of connecting to the Internet via the simpler "wired" connection, then we'll move on to the more complex wireless connection.

(07) Please, go HERE to download the manual for your particular router. You will need to determine the version number of the WRT54G model 1st. There are instructions there that will guide you through this.
